Bermuda: 5 Medals So Far At Carifta Games
In some desperately needed good news following the holiday havoc, Bermuda’s track and field team is putting on an outstanding performance at the Carifta Games in the Cayman Islands, sitting in a very impressive 5th spot on the medal table, out of 25 nations.
Bermuda has a total of 5 track and field medals [1 silver, 4 bronze] with one more day of competition to go. The local athletes are doing a stellar job of competing against nations renowned for producing world class track and field athletes, such as Jamaica, Trinidad and Bahamas. World class sprinters such as Usain Bolt and Merlene Ottey came up through the Carifta ranks.
- Jeneko Place won a silver medal in the 100 metres, finishing in a time of 10.71 – which is only 0.43 seconds off Olympic qualifying time.
- Juma Mouchette won a bronze medal in the 1,500 metres finals, finishing in 4:12.82
- Jasmine Brunson won a bronze medal in the long jump, with a leap of 5.86 metres
- Alison Outerbridge won a bronze medal in the triple jump, with a leap of 12.10 metres
- Taylor Ashley Bean won a bronze medal in the 3000 metres, finishing in a time of 10:47.84
