New Date of April 18: Good Friday Part II
The rescheduled date of Apr 18 for the “Good Friday Part II” has been announced, with the original date of Apr 11 being cancelled as it coincided with Kimwandae Walker’s funeral.
The event is an initiative by the community action group ‘Rise Above Bermuda’, and will be held this coming Sunday April 18, from 2pm – 7pm at the Victor Scott school field.
The tragic events of Good Friday are well known; the broad daylight shooting murder of Kimwandae Walker at the Victor Scott School field in front of numerous children, including his own 9 yr old son, and 4 yr old daughter.
Rise Above says they are giving back to young people what was taken on Good Friday. They say they want to send a very clear message: “We still believe in the Good in our community, we believe in the Good in us, we believe in the Good in you.”
They are looking for everyone from the neighbourhood and community to come out and enjoy a day of fun, no speeches, no talk… just fun.
There will be a number of fun activities for the children provided 100% free including; fun castles, food, egg hunts, running races, face painting, and more. Security will be in place.
The concept is to send a message that good law abiding citizens will not be scared away, and to show that the community supports the children of the area, as well as the entire student body of the Victor Scott school.
