June 27, 2010

bermuda HIV ribbonThe Department of Health is reminding the public that they can pop by the Communicable Disease Control Clinic at the Hamilton Health Centre tomorrow [June 28] from 8:30am onwards for a free, confidential HIV test.

The free screening is part of the department’s observance of June as HIV Awareness Month.

With around 60% of all HIV infections in Bermuda being attributed to sexual contact, the campaign theme, “Sexual Health: Have the Conversation” was designed to encourage discussion about sexual health between doctors and patients, parents and children, friends, family members and couples.

Public Health Nurses at the Communicable Disease Control Clinic are available year-round for health services. Telephone 278-6442 for more information, questions, concerns and referrals.
