Fatal Accident: Other Rider Still Hospitalized
The other motorcyclist involved in the accident yesterday (Sept 1) which claimed the life of a 20-year-old lifeguard remains at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The man, a 58-year-old Hamilton parish resident, is currently on a general ward having sustained serious injuries to his right hip, right wrist and a finger on his right hand. His injuries are not life threatening at this time.
Geoffrey Burns, the other rider involved in the accident, sadly succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead at 7am yesterday morning. His friends and fellow lifeguards gathered in tribute last night.
The Police stated that both motorcycles involved were extensively damaged. The accident scene is pictured above. Prior to removing the cycle, the first responders could be seen using shovels to scoop up the shattered bike pieces and place them into the truck.
The Police state that inquiries into this incident are ongoing, and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision. Any witnesses to this collision are encouraged to contact PC Derek Simmons on 295-0011.
