Police Investigating Reports Of Gun Shots

As the island prepares for Hurricane Igor, the Police have been forced to take time out to investigate yet another report of gunshots in Bermuda this afternoon [Sept 18].

The reports are coming from the Spanish Point area, and at this time there has been no one confirmed as being injured, however we have limited information at this early stage. We will update as able, so please check back.

Update 3:54pm: The Police confirm they are investigating reports of gunfire, however cannot confirm yet whether there was an actual firearm incident or not. We are awaiting a police statement on the matter.

Update 8:28pm: Official information from Police:

Around 1:40pm on Saturday, Police responded to a report of gunshots in the Spanish Point Road, Pembroke area. Officers attended the scene and conducted inquiries; however there were no reported injuries. An active investigation into this matter is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-8115 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.
