Applicants and businesses were asked to submit an essay of between 250 and 500 words explaining how a face-to-face meeting in the UK would help their business in Bermuda. Their submission included who or what organisation they would like to meet in the UK.

The contest received 40 submissions ranging with ideas from sustainable farming through to unique Bermudian jewellery. Of those 40, 12 submissions were short-listed to make a face to face presentation to the final jury panel made up of two representatives from British Airways, two representatives from BSBDC/EEZA, and two independent journalists.

The 12 short-listed entrepreneurs were Cheryl Kerr (Sistah Saute’); Susann Smith (Vet Clinic); Tom Wadson (Wadson’s Farm); Lucinda Spurling (Afflare Films); Anne Hyde (KBB); Bob Smith (The Academy of Martial Arts); Terry Smith (Clara Bows); Lamone Woods (Bermuda Sports Network); Stacy Hill (Secrets); Tamara White (Posh Salon); and Alexandra Mosher (Alexandra Mosher Jewellery Studio) and Anthony Easton (Tuxedos and Bridal Wear).

The lucky winners selected by the judges were Anthony Easton (Tuxedos and Bridal Wear), Tom Wadson (Organic Farms), Lamone Woods (Bermuda Sports Network), Terry Smith (Clara Bows Boutique), Lucinda Spurling (Afflare Films) and Alexandra Mosher (studio jewellery).

Each of the winners have identified which organisation/person they would like to have a face to face meeting with in the UK. As a result of the high quality of all the submissions, British Airways offered a sixth flight to London.

Through their participation in this contest the winners will also have the opportunity to be involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week  that will be held in London.  The UK events are run by the co-founding organisation of the week, Enterprise UK. Global Entrepreneurship Week (15 – 21 November) is a worldwide initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity, with participation from countries across six continents.
