Traffic Being Diverted: Accident In Paget

At approximately 5:15pm today [Oct 24] there was a road traffic collision in the Rural Hill, Paget area, which has resulted in at least one person injured. The Police are presently on the scene, traffic is blocked from the area and is being diverted onto Harbour Road.

Details are unclear at this time, but looking at the accident scene it appears that a motorcycle and a truck were involved. It is understood that one man involved in the collision has been injured, with his injuries considered serious in nature.

Update 6:35pm: Traffic is backed up to approximately half-way down East Broadway. We will update with official Police information when available.

Update Oct 25, 11:50am: Official information from the Police:

Around 5:10pm on Sunday, Police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Paget near the south round-a-bout involving a motorcycle and a truck.

It appears that the vehicles were traveling along South Road when they collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 36 year old Devonshire man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the truck, a 37 year old Pembroke man, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the truck apparently was not damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Rajiv Bailey on 295-0011.
