Minister Lister Welcomes 400 Aviation Delegates

Making his first official appearance as Minister of Transport Terry Lister was on hand at the 20th Airports Council International (ACI) World Annual General Assembly last [Nov 2] night to welcome the more than 400 delegates who had arrived in Bermuda for the aviation conference and tradeshow.

From October 29th to November 3rd many of the world’s most senior airport and aviation executives will address some of the critical issues facing the global industry right here in Bermuda.

The Airports Council International (ACI), created in 1991, is the international association of the world’s airports. As a non-profit organization, ACI’s purpose is to foster the cooperation among its member airports and other partners in world aviation. This includes governmental, airline and aircraft manufacturing organizations.

ACI has 575 members operating over 1630 airports in 179 countries and territories. In 2008, ACI members handled 4.9 billion passengers, 86 million metric tons of cargo and 77 million aircraft movement. The ACI World Annual General Assembly is the biggest global meeting of the ACI World Airport members.

The event is scheduled around official and regional ACI board meetings and committees. This year it is combined with the Latin America Caribbean Annual General Assembly. This is the twentieth anniversary for ACI. It is the biggest and most influential airport event of the calendar, allowing unparalleled access to the global community of ACI Airport decision makers.
