Seven Footballers Disciplined by the BFA

The Bermuda Football Association today [Jan 4] released a statement on Disciplinary Committee Rulings which saw seven football players cited for offences including assaulting a player by punching him, foul and abusive language towards the referee and making an obscene gesture. Five of the players come from the Premier Division and two from the First Division.

PHC Zebras coach Kyle Lightbourne, PHC player Cecoy Robinson and Prospect United player Deshaun Berkeley all received four match bans. Mr Lightbourne, a former professional footballer, was fined $150 and suspended for four games for “foul & abusive language towards the officials.”

TROY TUCKER

  • Club: Somerset Eagles

TARIK SMITH

  • Date: Sunday – October 10th 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Striking a player
  • Sanction: Two (2) match suspension and six (6) months probation

DESHAUN BERKELEY

  • Club: Prospect United
  • Match: FIRST DIVISION – MR Onion’s vs. X’Road’s
  • Date: SUNDAY – MARCH 28, 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Violent Conduct – Assaulting player by punching him
  • Sanction: Four (4) match suspension and one (1) football year probation.

RALPH BEAN JR.

  • Club: North Village Rams
  • Match: PREMIER DIVISION – North Village Rams vs. Devonshire Cougars
  • Date: SUNDAY – OCTOBER 31, 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Foul and Abusive Language towards referee
  • Sanction: Two (2) match suspension and six (6) months probation

KYLE LIGHTBOURNE

  • Club: PHC Zebras
  • Match: DUDLEY EVE – Dandy Town Hornets vs. PHC Zebras
  • Date: WEDNESDAY – OCTOBER 13, 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Foul & Abusive language towards the officials
  • Sanction: Four (4) matches suspension and $150.00 Fine – PHC Appealed: Sentence to be upheld

JEVONE SEALEY

  • Club: PHC Zebras
  • Match: DUDLEY EVE – Dandy Town Hornets vs. PHC Zebras
  • Date: WEDNESDAY – OCTOBER 13, 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Obscene gesture / behavior towards official
  • Sanction: Two (2) match suspension with one football year probation – PHC Appealed: Uphold the two (2) match suspension; with half football year probation.

CECOY ROBINSON

  • Club: PHC Zebras
  • Match: DUDLEY EVE – Dandy Town Hornets vs. PHC Zebras
  • Date: WEDNESDAY – OCTOBER 13, 2010
  • Offence: Behavior designed to bring game into disrepute – Assault / Abusive language towards official
  • Sanction: Six (6) month suspension – PHC Appealed: Sentenced reduced to four (4) match suspension.
