Budget Review: City Meeting Postponed

February 24, 2011

The City of Hamilton’s public monthly meeting which is usually held on the first Wednesday of each month will postponed to Wednesday March 9, 2011.

Mayor of Hamilton Charles Gosling said, “We have no choice but to delay next month’s meeting by one week. The additional time will give us an opportunity to review in detail how the 2011-2012 Budget, as released by the Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Paula Cox, JP, MP, will impact the City’s 2011 budget in terms of operations, capital projects and events.”

“During the meeting we will be providing Members and the general public with an overview of our current and projected financial outlook. The rescheduling will ensure we have sufficient time to review our options before making a decision one way or the other.”

Mayor Gosling concluded, “During the March meeting, we will institute a new feature which will begin each monthly session. We will incorporate a ten minute question and answer period, where members of the public will be invited to ask questions of the elected City Council. The meeting will start at the usual time of 12:30pm in the Mayor’s Parlour in City Hall.”
