Ashley Estwanik Will Not Defend Marathon Title
Ashley Estwanik will not defend her Bermuda Day Half Marathon Title this year due to her second pregnancy.
Last year, Mrs Estwanik took an early lead from Somerset which she never conceded throughout the whole route. She set a new record of 1:21:58, slashing approximately 90 seconds off the old record, which she herself set in 2008.
Mrs Estwanik said, “This year I will be running the final leg of the Mummies with Tummies team, I am really happy that I will be still able to take part in the race, I will also be able to cheer on others, including husband Chris Estwanik.”
When asked who would she now consider the female favorite, sge said, “I know Victoria Fiddick just ran an amazing race in New York a few weeks ago and if she continues that form she will be tough to beat, also Jennifer Alen will be a strong contender, she is strong over the shorter distances, but she could still be a threat, however on the day anyone could really do well and win the race.”
