The exercise takes place in the fictitious country of Jackson Key where the capital city of “Combat” has been overrun by “lawless gang members who are smuggling drugs, using firearms, and intimidating the local population.”

The Bermuda Regiment provide support from the nearby Forward Operating Base of HAWK. Although only a day and a half into the exercise the Bermudian soldiers, known by the Camp Lejeune Marines as “The Bermuda Marines,” have been tested on retaining public order, vehicle patrols and detaining suspects.

A spokesperson said, “Despite a testing around the clock schedule and near freezing temperatures at night morale remains high and the Bermudian Commanders are confident that they will restore order and maintain public support.”

  1. Cd says:

Why are these troops all on a working jolly when their is war on the streets of Pembroke?

  2. JSAS says:

This ‘jolly’ is a confirmation exercise to fully test all the previous instructions the troops and commanders have received over the past 2-3 years. Unfortunately the training areas can never provide the necessary scope without the soldier relying on familiarity to fall back on. If they are ever called upon to deal with the ‘war’ in Pembroke, rest assured they were given the methodology to do so.

JSAS if you are speaking on behalf of the Bermuda Regiment then please realize you have done them a disservice by poorly rehashing and publishing a tired and overused justification for what amounts to nothing more than a waste of public funds in a time when money is scarce.
“If they are ever called upon to deal with the ‘war’ in Pembroke, rest assured they were given the methodology to do so”

They were given the methodology or WILL be given the methodology?

Maybe you and Brian should go to Pembroke and prevent the war from starting rather than having to go there and deal with it, after all an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
