Carnival Fantasy Cruise To Bypass Bermuda

August 25, 2011

Due to Hurricane Irene – the first hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic Season – the Carnival Fantasy will skip its visit to Bermuda this week.

The Carnival Fantasy is loading in Charleston today [Aug.25], however due to the approaching storm, it will bypass Bermuda and visit Cozumel, Mexico and Key West, Florida.  The Fantasy returns to Charleston next Wednesday.

Irene is not a threat to Bermuda at this time, however the category three hurricane is expected to impact the U.S. CNN reports that that four state governors have declared states of emergency, mandatory evacuations are underwat in parts of North Carolina, the military moved more than two dozen ships out to sea ahead of the storm.

Why bypass Bermuda? you can’t get to Cancun from Charlston with the storm coming up the coast unless you travel way out toward BERMUDA to go around the storm?

    • Ambitious Girl says:

Agreed. That makes no sense! If it’s not a threat to Bermuda why skip the one place where people will be able to enjoy!?

  2. JOHN says:

With a name like ‘Irene’, it is not quite the first hurricane of the season!

  3. Pastor Syl says:

That looks more like a wardning shot over the bow to me!

I think we are seeing the beginning of the backlash for the poor transportation problems that existed even before the strike. Visitors vote with their feet (or their sails, in this instance).

    • Flikel says:

Pastor Syl your remarks really do not make any sense. I am sure the cruise ship guests did not tell Carnival to avoid Bermuda.
