  1. MinorMatters says:

…I should have spent most of my savings, not paid commercial rates for my condo and just waited to mooch of the other taxpayers.

  2. joonya says:

    I agree Minor.
I got a bank loan and busted my a*s paying for it to get my home the old fashioned way. Dont I feel stupid. And I dont have my own beach and nature reserve to relax in.

  3. That's the breaks says:

Don’t feel bad Joonya & MinorMatters. This “newly created utopia” is going to be one of the most densely populated areas on the island. These 3 story boxes will be packing them in “like sardines”. They’ll need the next door reserve & beach just for a “stress release & outlet”! The only winners from this project will be Gilbert Lopes and the owners of Swizzle Inn – West (ore customers for them). And in 20 years or sometime in the future, it will all fall into the ocean when that cliff collapses from erosion.

  4. PawPaw says:

Joonya / MinorMatters..you can always come to my house..no beach, but a nature reserve..only thing I hear are the sounds of whistling frogs, crickets and kisadees…

  5. GoodIntentions says:

So negative. Some people are actually grateful for the housing developments that the PLP government has created.

    • MinorMatters says:

What’s negative is I had to work diligently, make sacrifices, not be a burden on my society, pay my taxes, pay for my son’s education from preschool to college, save for the down payment on my condo, just to end up whereby freebies are given away at my expense…what’s positive about that?

  6. GoodIntentions says:

These homes are not for those people that choose to lay on a couch all day and do nothing. In fact i am sure you would find that the owners of these homes, and Loughlands in particular are all hardworking middle class families who wanted to be homeowners and secure their future.

    • star man says:

      Exactly.

I would have thought that these so-called “affordable” housing units would be sold more or less at cost. But with the prices quoted above someone is making a killing! And that just doesn’t seem right.

  7. star man says:

For a premium waterfront housing project you’d think that the architect would have designed nicer looking buildings. IMO, whoever approved the present design has no ‘taste.’ It’s really an eyesore. So it should be shielded from the South Road by a long hedge of tall oleanders.

    • GoodIntentions says:

      Star Man,

you have made a name for yourself posting negativity on every topic that is government related. your objectivity is non-existent, so your opinions lose their validity.

  8. Down 'n' Dirty says:

Paid a pretty penny for my Dunscombe Rd. house . I once had a lovely view of the ocean . This is the first year in twenty that I haven’t seen the whales pass by from my bedroom window . However , selfish interest aside , may my new neighbors enjoy their homes for many years to come .

  9. Say Say Say says:

Only Bermuda could offer Ghetto style high rise ‘low income’ housing starting at half a mill. There are 200 plus condos on the market currently and prices have dropped about 20 – 25% over the last three years. That means there are much nicer places at this price that don’t fall under Government low cost housing and therefore don’t carry the stigma of Government low cost housing.

60 or 70 expressions of interest – doesn’t mean crap. These places will not sell at the prices being asked. Why would ANYONE want to pay top $$$ for a Government ghetto when you get get a normal condo for the same price.

Government failure once again. Still, it is near Swizzle drive by so it seems only natural that it might become a ghetto.
