Security Van Robbed By Two Men

November 27, 2011

Three bags of cash were stolen from a security van in Hamilton in a broad daylight robbery yesterday morning [Nov.26].

Despite the presence of security officers two men — wearing dark clothing and dark visors — rode up on a motorcycle and stole the bags from the security van, which was parked on Front Street.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 8am on Saturday, November 26th police received a report of a theft. It appears that around 7:50am a security van was parked on Front Street near the junction with King Street in the City of Hamilton when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode up to the vehicle and removed three bags containing a quantity of cash.

“Security officers attempted to stop the culprits, but were unsuccessful. The suspects are described as of slim build, wearing dark coloured clothing and black helmets with dark coloured visors, riding a SYM motorcycle.

“Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

The end is near. This island is under seige and soon it won’t be safe anywhere at any time.Time for the UK to send the army. The police are helpless to defend us.Arm yourselves and prepare to for war.

    • The road to hell says:

@Sharky – you’re absolutely right there. Bermuda is under the impression that this increase in violence is correct? Comments about “low-hanging fruit” and “inside jobs” – really? READ your news and UNDERSTAND what is happening on this beautiful island. Martial law would sort it out, but of course things will get worse before it gets better, so be prepared for yet more of the same.

  2. Lock this mongrel up says:

    Inside Job senior?

    • bermy gurl says:

Yup! I really think so! Empty truck, full of cash, both security guards step away at the same time….they are gonna meet up lata and split it 4ways!

  3. STEWEY BABCOCK says:

Sounds like low hanging fruit to me . A paralysed snail clocked a faster time than either one of those big bellied guards .

  4. Shaking the Head says:

What seems to missing here is any reference to a bladed article or firearm. Did the security personnel merely hand over the money? If so I trust the robbers at least had the courtesy to say “Good Morning”. Almost sounds like an inside job.

    • Wondering says:

Have you ever watched the “security guards” doing their job… van is left unlocked and the ‘security guards’ all leave the van… seems there needs to be a revamping of their procedures…. and I agree with the money counting machine and also one of those exploding color doflicky’s…oh, markers

    STRAIGHT CASHHH

  6. Instant Replay says:

How dumb! What firm did they work for? Two & a Half Men?

  7. THE HELL!! says:

The punishment needs to be hard labor These low life’s don’t wanna work they just want to take or steal from others they need their a** cut. Its to much of this crap and its gonna get worse.

    • Thoughts says:

Yes, it’s going to get worse. As our Gov sits their @sses down and gives our jobs away. Many respecting people are going to resort to illegal means to survive.

  8. INSIDE MAN says:

LOL that was a inside job @ 7:50am. Who they kidding them little gansters are sleeping at that time. That’s some ones son, nephew or cuz!

Bernews find out how much $$$ crime stoppers offers for snitching.

    • street talk says:

Real hustlers are up before sun break! You people think there isnt money to make at that time? smh

  9. wow says:

Who we going to blame for this? We can’t blame either party PLP or OBA. This is a community issue. Who ever wins next election is going to still face the same problems. These thugs need 24 hour lock down.

Why are we got the only prison in the World where your not behind a plexiglass using a telephone to talk to your love ones? When I went to visit my boy we all set around a round table like we having a picnic. Told me right up front “place is ok and I’m eating better then I was @ the house”

    WTF

    • Rick Rock says:

It’s under the current PLP government that the serious crime situation has got completely out of control. At the 2007 election the UBP opposition had on its platform some tough anti-crime measures, which (as I recall it) included ideas about ‘three strikes and you’re out’, that kind of thing. The PLP whipped it into a race issue, and said stuff like “they want to lock us all up”.
The truth is, this government is not hard on crime.

      • Don says:

Three strikes is a bad idea, not working in LA. Hard labour & must reach a certain level of education before being released is what’s needed. If you can do hard labour & have some education you should be able to get a job.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

We have a politicaly (PLP) appointed Attourney General. The Government sets the tone on how to deal with crime. Undeniably the PLP has been soft on crime.

      You reap what you sow.

Want even more crime? Vote PLP again.

  10. white Christ says:

Would be great if they counted the money with a machine that recorded the serial number of every note. Then the bloodhounds would come out anytime they tried to spend or move one dollar of that money. Oh and it sounds like an inside job!

  11. Moto says:

Again – two men on a dark bike, with dark clothing, dark helmets, dark helmet visors with a bad objective. Do your profiling, Police. Every day, every policeman should be on the look out for two men on a bike. Stop them and search them. In searching them, you may find a weapon and thus get another gun off the street and two men on a dark bike in jail.

  12. Gabbani says:

Yep smells like a rat to me for sure! Inside job?

  13. The One (Original) says:

    Inside job for sure!

  14. cocoa says:

Sounds “fishy” to me. Maybe the security firm needs to have an armed officer make the rounds with these guys. At 7:50am in the moring, sounds like it was planned. On a Saturday moring it was obviously a “quiet” time and not to many people out yet. I mean it soudns liek these guys wer literally sittin in their van just waitign to be robbed!?? Sounds way to “fishy” to me.

  15. mixed up says:

Why do you all think this is an inside job? for years we have seen the way these money trucks operate. It was only a matter of time before some brazen fools took advantage. these guys have been robbing people regularly, but only for a few dollars or a new phone. I guess they decided to go for the big score this time. leave the security guards alone, they have been sitting ducks for years!

  16. Tuba says:

The headline ‘Robbery’ is misleading. Nowhere in the story does it state that any violence was used against the security guards. Sounds like a case of theft. There is a difference….
Also, I agree that tinted visors should be made illegal. The reasons for that are all too clear. Unlike the stupid reasons given for not allowing tint on windows of private cars.

  17. drunkenUrsula says:

hey race consultant, give me a call!

  18. No Fool says:

So, the van was left unlocked? Bunch of dummies!!!

  19. Think About It says:

. There is no way that it was a spur of the moment theft. They had to know the exact location of the truck and the exact time it would be there. They need to question the gaurds and find out if they have any ties (friends or relatives) that are current or former offenders and start there.

  20. Garry Marshall says:

No not just unlocked but i was told by someone in the area that they left the DOOR open.
They should be made to repay the money back for their stupidity.

  21. Bad Girl turn Good says:

So which actual bank should “I SET IT OFF” smh – How many movies can we watch which would teach us the exact way to rob anyone or anything in Bermuda and get away since our technology is no where near up to par.

    Set it off
    Heist
    Oceans 11
    Oceans 12
    Need I mention more smh

OK Little boys with guns & initiations (so i have to prove my self to my peers)
Parents Struggling (so i need to help my parents with bills also)
no technoical schools (make me feel even more worthless)
    Lack of drug availablity (weed)
No positive Govenment structure (no one providing a REAL DOWN TO EARTH positive goal) (not political)
Lack of police budget & staff

HMMMMMM – Imagine BDA in 2 years minimum at the rate we going

  22. Bryan says:

Least no body got hurt…that paper is insured so sounds like they got away with what Governments have been doing for years …ganked cash out of somebody’s pocket in a diplomatic manner and kept their identity’s secret from the masses at the same time.
