Two Fires, Same St. George’s Property

November 22, 2011

On two separate occasions today [Nov.22] the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service attended a St. George’s property located near the junction of Slippery Hill and Garrison Lane.

 .

The Police and Fire Services were called for the second time at approximately 5:45pm, and on arrival they found an area of trees and brush ablaze. There were two fire vehicles, a police car and approximately eight fire personnel at the scene.

Earlier this afternoon, the Fire Service and Police attended the same property and found a small area of trees on fire. The fire and smoldering area was quickly extinguished by fire personnel and wet down before the fire service left the scene.

 .

The property involved appeared to be an open lot and did not have any buildings on it. Bystanders told Bernews there was a building on a nearby neighbouring property that was not damaged by the fire. There was a boat seen on the property but it did not appear to be damaged by either fire.

I wonder what Government plan to do with this property. It used to be a low cost housing unit but Im convinced that because of the view, and location at the top of a hill with few neighbors they will make it into a low cost development unit.
