Cheap publicity stunt, no plans or programs discussed, then just a waste of time for all concerned!

    • Yup says:

Reporter should have asked if the Premier would consider investing her millions in the Bermuda retail industry. I THINK NOT.

  2. Liars says:

    omg

    • Yup says:

It doesn’t matter. The masses will vote the moran back in.

  3. Bishop says:

    Uninspiring!

  4. tricks are for kids..... says:

If I made $224,000 a year with NO paycut I would probably ‘Buy Bermuda’ too…..

    • PEPPER says:

Paula, what a joke you are… we all know where you shop !!!!

  5. 32n64w says:

Another cheap publicity stunt from a PLP Government bankrupt of ideas, experience and the public’s trust.

PLP – Taking more and leaving tax payers with less and less since 1998.

  6. REALISM says:

anyone know where that store is?

    • Bernews says:

Sorry, should have included that. It’s on Court Street.

  7. James says:

This is truly pathetic. This is the same Finance Minister who allowed Trimmingham Bros to get skewered with a loss of 200 jobs. I wonder if the lady cut through the new HSBC building (formerly Trimminghams) on her tour? (Lotta empty space in there). Of course any fool can rig a construction boom, especially when there are ancient scores to settle, but 200 real, permanent jobs, even the PLP/HSBC crony clique would be hard pressed to do that (and too cheap).

  8. Razor says:

Do they really sell those cheesy PLP shirts in stores?

    • Boom says:

I bet the PLP gets a cut of this shirts sales. Once again the PLP looking after thei own pockets.

      • Boom says:

$40 for a t-shirt is hardly a reasonable price for the working folks trying to make ends meet either.

    • PEPPER says:

It was all planned …to think they sell these PLP shirts in Hamilton !!!what shop was that ?

  9. Honestly says:

The name of the shop was “Klimaxx”

Not too sure if I am the only person discouraged to shop in Bermuda. I made several efforts during the holiday and I stood in the major Department store and just gave up after several hours looking on the three floors of womens clothing. Nothing in there for me as I am a trendy but professional dresser who shops overseas in places like Macy’s and Nordstrom which indeed has a variety and I buy what appeals to me, inlike buying ungly, cheap looking clothes or shoes that are overpriced.

I guess I won’t be udgrading my wardrobe anytime soon…this ridiculous idea of having the average Bermudaian supply monies lost under this Government…there goes my vote!!!

  10. just not right says:

She is using the people of BDA money to go shopping localy that is really a good thing cause when the aduit is done she can say she shopped localy using the BDA currency. GREAT JOB Lady PC……

  11. Clinton J. A. Paynter OBA Affiliated in St. Geo #1 says:

Cheap publicity stunt… Where does the Premier really shop? SMH…

  12. Anon Ymous says:

“And while you know that we always have to spend and live within our means”

Oh, the irony! Like others, I wonder where she usually shops if she’s never been in these Hamilton stores prior to the walkabout.

  13. Dianne says:

Went into town yesterday. To allow my kid to use up some gift vouchers he got at Christmas. He looked for three things he really wanted in the Annex couldn’t find any of it.. Went to leisure time and asked for 2 different fairly new PS3 games and they didn’t have them. Went to Sports Locker to buy him a pair of sneakers and he looked at several pairs. Nothing in his size.. Yes he could probably use the certificates to buy anything else in the store. But why should the consumer have to settle for what’s available and not get what you really want?? After all it is OUR money.. Jack duty to 100% I am still shopping else where!! Variety, Quality and Affordable! I consider the plane ticket, car and hotel expenses as a vacation cost. BYE Bermuda!

  14. Razor says:

$40 for a T shirt. Only in Bermuda.

  15. Bermigurl says:

The price is rediculous for t shirt $40 . Shopping here in bermuda is ripping off my pocket , I cant get my size and style.Sometimes had to look at teens or childrens section as im a petite , Not much choices . I still want to buy overseas as its hard to get what I need and want on this island.. 35% duty is rediculos..!!! #SMH

  16. Death to Party Politics says:

Why is this newsworthy? Beyond it being a publicity stunt, the Premier of Bermuda’s salary is 3 times mine. SHE can afford to buy Bermuda, I cannot.

  17. Finally left! says:

lol $8 is a post christmas sale? you look in US and UK and businesses are slashing prices by 50% to get sales off the shelf… going from $48 to $40 for a shirt IS NOT bargain hunting in any means…

  18. Cleancut says:

Every post in this story is against the Premier. It does really make me believe that this a the start of an Election campaign by the PLP. Shopping, OBE Award, Independence remind! i think there is a lot more to come, before she calls it.

  19. Don says:

And Rome burned as Nero tinkered.

  20. 1minute says:

It show how out of touch the PLP Government is with the people that it is a media event when the mingle with us “common folk” in our stores. I remember the UBP’s Government was in power, the premiers would walk through town to get from meeting to meeting, or to go out to lunch.
    Time for a change.
