Videos: 2012 Front Street & 10K Races
On Friday night [Jan.13] the KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile Races and the Bermuda Triangle Challenge Mile Race were held on Front Street.
Despite the high winds and rain, a crowd braving the conditions to cheer on the competitors. Tesfaye Dube won the Elite Male Race clocking a time of 4:19.0, with Korene Hinds winning the Elite Women’s race when she crossed the line in a time of 4:57.0. Tamika Williams ran away with the Open Female Race clocking 5:07.2, while Gary Raynor stormed to victory in the Men’s Open race clocking 4:38.4.

The Primary School Girls race saw Ashley Irby finish first in a time of 5:54.7, while Sajan Harvey won the Primary School Boys race with a time of 5:47.6. Zakiyyah Showers won the Middle School Girls race with a time of 5:48.1, with David Darrell winning the Boy’s Middle School race clocking a time of 5:26.5.
Shuntae Hendrickson captured the High School Girls title with a time of 5:43.0, with Dage Minors winning the High School Boys race in a time of 4:34.6. Full results of the Front Street Mile are here [PDF].
Start of the 10K race:
Yesterday [Jan.14] Chris Estwanik won the Bermuda International Race Weekend 10K, while Rolanda Bell was the first female finisher across the line.
Estwanik crossed the line in a time of 31.03, while Lamont Marshall finished second overall clocking 31.33, and Stephen Slattery finished third recording a time of 32.39. Estwanik is the first local athlete to win the race since 1978.
Top 10 finishers at the 10k race:
Rolanda Bell was crowned the Female 2012 International Race Weekend 10K Champion after she was the tenth person to cross the line, finishing in 36.27, Korene Hinds from Jamaica was the second female finisher with a time of 37.22.
Mardrea Hyman rounded out the top three female finishers when she recorded a time of 38.12. Tamika Williams was the first Bermudian Female runner to cross the line and the fourth female overall clocking a time of 41.15 finishing 30th overall.
