These plastic yellow and white keep left boxes are designed in England to be easily knocked over and cheap to replace. Why oh why does Hamilton Corporation put iron posts filled with concrete in front of them? They cause massive damage to what would otherwise be of no significance if the car just hit the box. Also the new short poles at intersections around the city with the crossing controls on them are lethal. If someone comes off a bike at an intersection and gets thrown through the air they are very likely to impale themselves on them. Very dangerous.
Surely the road safety council should speak out about this?
Oh please if a rider comes off a bike and hits the road it can be lethal..!! Next you’ll want the corporation to remove the asphalt and put down styrofoam peanuts to cushion the fall….
People need to take responsibility for their actions. This was driver error. What… The post got in her way??
It was bright yellow and a clear day. No excuses….
If you’re riding your bike and someone forces you into the pole, would that be your error?
The irony of the road safety council is they only worry about how the public conducts road safety and not Government. We have all sorts of hazards on the road. Deep gullies from cable trenching, slippery man hole covers on every other bend, poor asphalt! The list goes on and on!
Those iron posts filled with concrete are there to provide some protection for pedestrians standing on the median.
Not true at all. The pedestrian crossing is on the other side of the pole. So if the pedestrian was crossing the road via the crosswalk, the pole in no way ca nprotect them.
The traffic is two-way there and the median can be used and a slightly safer place to stand by a pedestrian waiting for traffic to go by. I’ve stood exactly where the guy in the blue top is standing for this purpose.
If people waited for the light you would not have to stand there!!!!
Probably too busy not concentrating on the road. I would understand if these keep left signs were new or the road had been newly redesigned. Not so much – they’ve been there since the realignment of Burnaby/Cedar. Despite this fact, the plastic keep left signs have been destroyed numerous times by inattentive drivers – the city was probably running out of money replacing them every week and put the concrete poles in as a deterrent.
Making a right turn at an intersection at a slow pace, the yellow boxes are bright so that they are noticed and not driven into. The driver should be paying attention!!!!! what if that had been a person?
So so true
Wow the driver can barely see over the wheel. Seniors need yearly driving test… And so do middle aged drivers…!!!
Yep! Too many times do I see expat soccer moms breaking on every corner when another car comes a little too close.
She just found out she was going to have to pay a licence fee at TCD this year…..obviously went for the insurance money instead….lol hope she is Ok
@James S A.K.A 32n65w(per RG)…expat much? maybe retired, permanent resident at that who has nothing better to do but comment from behind a computer. Get out and get involved. Hope to see you as the next candidate to be rolled out by the One Bermuda Alliance.
Woman driver? just saying….
It was probably ya mama. just saying…
Lol
No way. My mama wouldn’t be seen dead in a Kia
But she wasn’t seen dead she was seen alive, not seriously injured.
Not my fault. That post just came out of nowhere!!
Since the post says it appears that no one was seriously injured, I’m gonna go ahead & LOL!!!! How they do that? Come onnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!
Church n Burnaby and Reid n Burnaby are frequent accident spots…at least once a month…I work on Burnaby….
They put those posts there after one moron after another ran over the plastic bits. Serves the fool right. I LAUGH everytime I see someone smack into them…
This is why some seniors need to drive smaller cars. Those Kias CRVs are too big!
That’s a KIA Soul… an E class car… most def not an SUV (Honda makes CRV’s) LOL!
Likely BB ing her lover!
OMG people!! It was an elderly woman and a tiny lady at that so she probably could not see it clearly or misjudged it!
People hit those all the time but usually the one on the reid street side. Most are people racing and cutting the space.
Moving on!!! LAwd!!! All this unnecessary bickering over nothing!! You all have your opinion and should agree to disagree! Next story!!! lol
thats why I take the bus..
