Man Pleads Not Guilty To Stealing $2 Sausage

April 23, 2012

In Magistrates Court this morning [Apr.23] a 31-year-old man pleaded not guilty to a charge that he stole a sausage valued at $2 from the Somers Supermarket on York Street in St George’s.

Michael Eugene Douglas also pleaded not guilty to a second charge that he uttered threatening words to the manager of the supermarket. The Senior Magistrate granted bail of $2,000 with one surety, and his trial date was set for May 30th.

Initially, Mr Douglas refused to go through the grey door and be processed according to Court procedure; saying that he didn’t want to go through the door. However, gentle persuasion by Police officers on duty in the Court resulted in Mr Douglas going along with the normal procedure.
