Dr. John Libertino To Speak In Bermuda

Dr. John Libertino, Chairman of the Urology Department at Lahey Clinic, will be the main speaker at the Brown-Darrell Clinic’s quarterly Docs for Dinner next Thursday evening at Lido Restaurant, Elbow Beach.

Dr Libertino, who is often referred to as “the surgeon’s surgeon” by his colleagues, counts scores of Bermudians among his patients at Lahey.

“We are fortunate and proud to have a speaker of Dr. Libertino’s stature in Bermuda” said Dr. Ewart Brown, Executive Chairman of Brown-Darrell.

“He is considered an icon in his field and has already cemented his place in the annals of Urological Surgery.”

More than 35 local doctors are expected to attend the event to hear Dr. Libertino’s presentation entitled “Evolution of CT Scanning and Novel Techniques in partial Nephrectomy”.

Lahey’s website says, “In 2002, the Wall Street Journal identified Dr. Libertino as one of five top urologic surgeons in the US in the area of prostate nerve-sparing surgery.

“Dr. Libertino previously served as Lahey Clinic’s chief executive officer, chair of the Division of Surgery and chair of Lahey Clinic’s Board of Governors. He currently serves as vice chair of Lahey Clinic’s Board of Trustees.

“A graduate from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Libertino completed a residency in urology at Yale New Haven Medical Center, a cardiovascular research fellowship at Georgetown University School of Medicine and a Harvey Cushing Fellowship in Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
