Man Jailed For 8 Years For Stabbing
28-year-old Jamar Dill was sentenced to 8 years in prison this morning [May 23], after being convicted of stabbing a 64-year-old woman in May of last year. He hit the victim with his helmet and stabbed her with a knife after approaching her early one morning in Pembroke. Justice Carlisle Greaves ordered that Mr Dill must serve half his sentence [4 years] before being considered eligible for parole.
What was you thinking!
Why only 8 years? And what stipulates when the convicted are eligible for parole. He should serve the full 8!!!!
In cases of assault, sentence the offender to be humiliated by sentencing them to the Stocks in St. George’s to stand for 24 hours and at the last hour, lick their behinds with a branch from the Casaurina tree.
A school teacher at St. David’s, Rev. Cyril Butterfield, I have heard on numerous occassions would send the student being punished down to Red hole to select their branch, they would hand him the rod of correction, pull down their pants and lean over a desk – Game Set Done!!! No one who had to do this have ever said that as an adult, they regret the punishment, then yes, but today they look back and wonder where punishment like this is in today’s schools as it is a serious deterrent!!

Legally, a convict is eligible for parole after 1/3 of the sentence has been completed. There are obvious exceptions, and the judge has a say during the sentencing portion of a trial to stipulate that the criminal must serve more time than the parole eligibility date.
Makes you question a murderer doing life(25 years)and eligible for parole in only 8+ years. Not much of a deterent I would think for someone angry enough to take another persons life.
I kno him he was changing his life around for his girlfriend and son and if u dont kno him he was their from day 1 with his kid u would always see him with the newborn baby @ that time keep ya head up small also 2 his baby momma and his son jamarion u guys keep ya head up
