South Shore Hospitality Group Adopt Sandys School
Sandy’s Middle School has been adopted by the South Shore Hospitality Group, Education Minister Dame Jennifer Smith disclosed yesterday [June 7].
Dame Jennifer said, “It’s been a while since we have highlighted this initiative, but like an iceberg, there has been much going on under the water.
“I am so pleased to announce yet another addition to our Adopt-A-School programme.
“As you are aware, the Adopt-a-School initiative, started in 2010, was originally designed to encourage construction firms to help our public school facilities.
“It has grown to include any business, organisation, or individual, willing to make an “in kind” donation to our schools.

The Education Minister continued, “The initiative allows principals, teachers and students to get on with the job of teaching and learning, without worrying about maintenance or repairs or even supplies.
“To date the Adopt-A-School programme has raised over $170,000 for repairs and services for more than a dozen of the Island’s public schools.
“Today, we celebrate the adoption of another school. I am pleased to announce that Sandy’s Middle School has been adopted by the South Shore Hospitality Group.
“Mr. Mickel Caines, is here today on behalf of the South Shore Hospitality Group and Dr. Timothy Jackson is here on behalf of the school.
“This act of generosity will have a far reaching effect on this school and I want to publicly thank Mr. Caines for his contribution. His kindness and selfless act is very heartening, especially as we continue as a Country to navigate through difficult financial times.
“Mr. Caines, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sandys Middle School, it gives me great pleasure to present you with this Certificate in recognition of your contribution to our students”, concluded Minister Smith.
