Fire Service Responds To Sandys House Fire
Last night [Aug 7] firefighters responded to a fire on the upper level of a 2 storey residential unit in Sandys.
A spokesperson said: “At 6.35 this evening, August 7, BFRS received a call through the 911 Dispatch Facility reporting a structural fire at #56 Seawall Drive, Sandys.
“BFRS responded with 2 fire appliances, 2 support vehicles and 10 personnel. First appliance arrived on scene after 9 minutes and discovered smoke issuing from the upper level of a 2 storey residential unit which was the end unit of a block of three.
“2 firefigfhters in breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control and after approximately 40 minutes the blaze was completely extinguished.
“Through the quick action of the firefighters damage was confined to one bedroom although there was minor smoke damage to other areas of the upper level. There was no damage to the other units on the block.
“No one was injured in the blaze and the cause of the fire is being thoroughly investigated.”
