People wake up only the abusers of the earth will be cast away, those who use the medicine from the ground willl overstand its power, those who pop the pill and look to modern doctors to heal themselves will pay the price. People, heal thyself and hearablize.

    Legalize.!

    • Bermudian says:

With great English skills like that, you should stop smoking herb and pick up the books to learn how to communicate without sounding like you only have a third grade education.

      • Moonbeam says:

I agree with Bermudian – this is not a laughing matter !

      • empora says:

no matter how its said its still the truth

      • Keepin' it Real...4Real! says:

Im not here to advocate but look , listen educate your dumb a$$eS…especially you Bermudian and YOU Compost…exactly where ur intelligence is …http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSKJrgGqx_E

        • Bermudian says:

Apparently you can’t read, as I never made a statement over the use of marijuana. I merely pointed out that his comment was so bad in English, it took me a few times to read it to get what he was saying. The fact of the matter is, people will take you more seriously, if you took the time to communicate at a educated level, instead of just bashing your forehead on the keyboard. Just with your comment “Keepin’ it Real…4Real!”, your comment shows the education of a 4 year old. My 5 year old niece can communicate better then you can. I suggest you stop worrying about marijuana for now until you’re able to communicate like a adult, then come up with a proposition and take it to government with everyone else and push for it, instead of sitting on your butt behind a computer typing on a comments section for a news outlet. Want something done? Do something about it.

  2. YES MATE! says:

Another victimless crime stopped in its tracks! More millions of dollars going overseas to boost some other country’s economy! Well done once again BBS!

    • Compost says:

what an idiot. Are you serious? Only one PERSONS economy improves -the drug lord not a countrys economy?? You are living proof the weed kills braincells if you think this is a victimless crime. If you stop stokin the crap your money wont go anywhere! Or are you one of the millions of weed smokin dope addicts that petend they aren’t addicted! Keep pertending…one day you will gro up and realize that life is better when you are not on drugs. mine is, I’m living proof. 27 years of denial it look. Now I can see clearly. i only wish I had the money that went up in smoke back

      • Herbalist says:

STFU try it you might like it.

      • Tommy Chong says:

“Only one PERSONS economy improves -the drug lord not a countrys economy?? ” I don’t know about that. There are some judges & lawyers here that are improving their economy through drug convictions & let’s not forget about the the stores that sell the big gold chains, designer bags & luxury cars. That being stated there’s no way drug lords are making this big money to buy stuff from herb because that type of ching cha ching comes from selling hard drugs.

Sorry to read about your past predicament but not everyone who blaze does so in excess. Too much of ANYTHING makes an addiction. I’ll admit it I’m a chocoholic, blaze a massive dubbie in front of me & I’m fine to abstain but break open a box of Quality Streets & its all over.

  3. Um Um Like says:

That’s forty plants that the government could have received tax revenue from. Enough prosecution- let’s legalize it and market it to tourists.

  4. For Real says:

Thanks interesting Erb heals like eh NO ! Ask Bob Marley it sure healed him this crab is the scurge of Bermuda half the island is running about whacked out an living an illusion

    • jredmond says:

lol. for real though For Real, ya dumb.

      • For Real says:

It’s ok jredmond we know all u users get twitchy when when ya drug get talked about in a bad way or get busted dumb and dumber!

        • James says:

A bit like the bible bashers get twitchy when science is a proven fact. In the words of the prophet jredmond…….Ya Dumb!

        • jredmond says:

You’re an idiot to believe it will heal everything, but to call it the scourge of Bermuda is just as dumb. Political corruption, racial bias, religious intolerance, the failing education system and health issues like diabetes are far greater scourges and exponential more toxic to our culture than recreational marijuana use- which in almost every study ever conducted has been proven to have virtually no human cost. Sure there are the rare cases where individuals can’t handle it, but these are far fewer than those cases of alcohol addiction and abuse and even drugs doctors prescribe. That coupled with the crime it creates on the black market should make any sane person take a second look at the way we as a society confront cannabis.

      • empora says:

        true

    • More with less says:

Alcohol abuse should be our focus. Get rid of the rum!!!

      • JamudiCan says:

If my memory serves mecorrectly- wasnt alcohol the main cause in the death of one ofour visitors…just sayin…
Dont expect this corrupt mafia slave system to see logic in the fact that alcohol is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse and causes waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy more damageto society…
Keep following tradition…see where it get you.

    • Tommy Chong says:

I suppose you think Bob got cancer in his toe from smoking herb. Dang he must of had some skills to hold dutchie in between his lower digits.

In no way could Bob have developed melanoma because it being the most common form of cancer for ANY person of African decent to get especially in the lower limbs. Right?

You’re the one living an illusion if you think that out of all the highly addictive man made substances that are abused in Bermuda herb is the scourge of all our problems. In the legend’s own words, “You can’t see the right roads when the streets are paved”

  5. sense says:

@ For real only the weed heads think that herb will heal anything.Any smart thinking person knows that the reason why so much people have lost their minds in Bermuda is cause of this plague.A lot of these iditos shooting and joining these stupid gangs are usually smoked out of their minds everyday. This is one of the reasons for crime going up and the desturction of bda because it destroys the mentality of a person.
Takes away all common sense and logic and holds people back from growing and being productive.
What a shame that people in Bda want to fight for something like this when there are more important things we can take a stand for SMH at ppl ….

    • bermy$hotta says:

@sense – so wha bout all de politicians, policemon, lawyers, doctors, fireman, etc dat smoke de herb and have common sense n logic?? maybe ya should stop drinkin cuz ya logic is all flawed…fall back!

      • amen says:

If all you potheads are so proud of your weed toking than why don’t you post your real names? Let everyone know in Bermuda since it’s nothing to be ashamed about.

        • Douglas says:

Now you know your asking for the impossible! They have big mouths behind closed doors.

        • Come Correct says:

Don’t be as naïve as laverene, posting your real name could potentially have far greater consiquences than being labeled a pot head, especially with some of the little punks that post on here shouting out to their locked up gang buddies. If someone wants to use a different name, that’s their choice, ironically like smoking canabis. Its just that governments feel they can take away your freedom of choice. Marijuana is illegal yet you have no say in whether I want to down a bottle of jonny walker or clorox bleach. If I’m dumb enough to ingest a bottle of bleach, well that’s my prerogative isn’t it? But yet there’s no law against it and bleach is 100 times more deadly. Painkillers, antibiotics, antidepressants, househould cleaning products, CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL all kill more people per day than marijuana has, let’s put this in a time frame, ever. To overdose on THC you would have to smoke 40 times your body weight, that’s f@cking impossible. So what is your law for exactly? To protect me from myself? You should do some research and find out exactly why marijuana was criminalized and how it was done, because of that, everything is now printed on paper not hemp. For those that don’t know and aren’t following, I’ll break it down. We as backward ass humans would rather cut down slow growing trees at an insanely fast rate rather than harvest hemp wich grows insanely fast and can take the place of not only paper but many other items we use on a daily basis, but its ok keep your labels and keep banging down the “pot heads” while your summers and winters keep getting hotter all due to someone elses greed and your inability to think for yourself. In the early 1800s it was actually illegal not to grow hemp. Bear with me a second and think about this…Bermuda becomes the first island to decriminalize, supply, and tax recreational marijuana and harvest hemp in an effort to create a greener environment (trust me your cute little green shopping bag isn’t cutting it). We’re going to need growers, licenses for growers, dispensaries, dispensary licences, secure facilities costructed, security, people to harvest, people to treat the hemp and turn it into a finished product… Holy sh!t I think I just solved our debt and job crisis, yes I know its a bit more complicated than that but I haven’t even finished untying the knot on my plastic bag yet and I’m not a highly paid legislative consultant.

Lastly I’ll put to rest that silly argument about it being grown close to our schools and children.

          • Serious Though says:

“CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL all kill more people per day than marijuana has…”

BUT, it create more social issues than both of these two combined… go to Mexico, see how weed have changed peoples way of life for ever!

Now let look at our infamous neighborhood’s
Court st, St Monica rd, Parkside area, and the list goes on and on.. is it the lesser of those 2 evils or Weed??? Take weed out of these places and there will be change for life!!

            • Come Correct says:

This is Bermuda not mexico and if we don’t take the profit away from the gangs here our country will be run by cartels too. Here’s our social issue; our current prison state has the dual effect of getting rid of a superfluous population of basically unskilled workers (with a close race-class correlation), and also demonizing them… The drug war is basically for this – It has nothing to do with drugs, but it has plenty to do with criminalizing an unwanted population and scaring everybody else.

            • Tommy Chong says:

Weed has been used in Bermuda since the 1800′s so why would you think that its the cause of more recent social issues here?

Also Mexico’s gang problem revolves around cocaine not weed & its not only Mexico’s fault for this since former CIA director George H. W. Bush & the reagan administration played a big hand in it. Pablo Escobar & other cartel leaders in central & south america names are synonymous with cocaine.

        • Come Correct says:

Lastly I’ll put to rest that silly argument about it being grown close to our schools and children.
“Although drugs are immoral and must be kept from the young, thousands of schools pressure parents to give the drug Ritalin to any lively child who may, sensibly, show signs of boredom in his classroom. Ritalin renders the child docile if not comatose. Side effects? ‘Stunted growth, facial tics, agitation and aggression, insomnia, appetite loss, headaches, stomach pains and seizures.’ Marijuana would be far less harmful.“
ADD and ADHD are not problems, they are side effects of a child with limitless potential being stuck in a boring, mind numbing environment. Basically feed your child this to comotose him in class so others can learn and when he’s older we’ll just stick him in a jail cell along with the rest of the unskilled people we don’t want in our society. I’m not saying give your child marijuana to unlock the secrets of his mind. I’m saying people would rather bash marijuana based on what they have been told to believe yet ram ritalin down their childs throat because the FDA approves it and says they’ll learn better. It is you who is limiting your childs growth, simply because they don’t learn the same way. These are our athletes, inventors, artist, creators, but we should just keep things how they are because our education system works great huh?

This whole world is f@cked and marijuana is the least of its problems.

          • Split milk says:

I like ya style.. Come correct.. You do your own investigating n observations. The correct information isn’t hard to find along with history. Ppl have opinions which is good but some just mouth off without even taking the time to research things. They just make up there mind on an issue n go with it.

            • Come Correct says:

Have you heard of the book “the emperor wears no cloths”? I skimmed through a few pages and there’s tons of information and history, I’ve been meaning to download a digital copy so I can read it all (yes people, weed smokers read too). People just need to stop believeing everything they’re told, get the facts for yourself or don’t knock it. Only problem is, if too many people realize the truth, where does that leave pharmaceutical companies? *dun dun dun*

              • Split milk says:

I have heard of it.. I think that was jack herer??

(Cannabis: a history by Martin Booth) is a good read. Good bit of history in it, also about cannabis culture how it’s been used throught history… I’m talking b.c. Stuff, and talks about the propaganda machine and contributions for and against herb.. Talks about Harry Anslinger and others..
Another good read is (Understanding marijuana by Mitchell… Some history but mostly the scientific side..

Marijuana is safer.. Talks about the plant how it affect users compared to alcohol and is really good for ppl who don’t kno much about it and also for advocacy.. Explaining myths about it n other things..

So those are three good ones.. So you get your history you get the science and your social.. I think those 3 would be good to help build a good foundation. Then you can have a better understanding of the plant and also how it effects society from the user abuser how it is politisised.. Good bad and d ugly as they say..

Remember that most ppl just think its bad and that’s all they need to kno so you can’t get mad at them….. Some believe everything they are told and don’t investigate for themselves and that’s true for many topics and issues not just this one.. Don’t even take my word for it check things for yourself…

                • Split milk says:

Mitchell Earleywine wrote about the science.. Excuse me. Understanding marijuana.

        • Tommy Chong says:

Riiiiight! Because you’re so proud of your opinions you post your real name. Must be very confusing in church for you with everyone calling out your name. HUH?

          • Split milk says:

I have good reason not to put my real name. Risk n reward same reason I don’t indulge while in bda… Job….. Veed…… Hmmm…. u gonna support my family??

            • Tommy Chong says:

Not sure if you thought the comment was for you but it wasn’t. It’s @ poster amen hence the church part.

You’re preaching to the converted as I too don’t partake here. Also I had a similar experience as the two robbed on Hermitage Road many years ago though mine was on 42nd. In fact many of my friends who indulge have been in similar situations in Bermuda. Some will blame the cannabis for this but even if it wasn’t weed but a criminal offense to buy coffee someone devious would take advantage of it. Of course this is not at you Split milk but others who cant see the trees from the forest.

As Einstein said, “The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.”

In any place where drug laws are more liberal there is less drug crime. That is except for mexico but thats because they were a little to late in changing their policies.

    • Shit Happens says:

    • James says:

Well as usual, another Bermudian shooting the mouth. I am a regular token, who holds down a very good job, have a great family, hold a masters degree and pretty sure most would agree am a great guy. Get over yourself. SMH at you.

      • Future says:

Do “most” know you need to smoke a substance? What a role model you are! (not). Slowly pickling your brain and too slow to see it. Since you have a masters degree, perhaps you can explain to the people marijuana creates the effect it does when smoked? What the “side” effects are? Why inhaling the smoke doesn’t damage health as every other substance on this earth does?

There is a reason is is called dope.

        • Come Correct says:

Who said smoking weed isn’t bad for you? Smoking anything is bad for your lungs. You can eat marijuana with no harmful side effects, you argument is shot.

          • Read a book says:

Vibrating on the lawn with homemade tea and brownies. The grass is my carpet. No more aches and pains.

        • More with less says:

Future your argument is nothing more than a judgement on a person. You could ask the same for the far more dangerous ciggies that are oh so popular and very much legal. So it’s really none of your business why someone chooses to do what they do as long as it’s not hurting their family or society. If a person holds a steady job, provides for their family, and doesn’t harm others then nothing wrong with them smoking a joint in the evening just as nothing wrong with a person coming home and having a glass of wine. Obviously, one is unfairly illegal and the other more dangerous is perfectly legal. If people can’t see the hypocrisy in this very aspect then you are probably a judgmental person that is blinded by emotion rather than common sense. Take emotion and judgement out of an issue, look deeper into the issue, and truly think about the logic of things. Society is so over emotional and judgmental that logic often goes out the window.

    • More with less says:

Most people in Bermuda abuse alcohol more than weed. The focus on weed and the blatant disregard for the real damage done by alcohol is bewildering. Weed is an amazing medicine, easy to grow, and decreases reliance on prescription drugs.

    • Tommy Chong says:

“This is one of the reasons for crime going up and the destruction of bda because it destroys the mentality of a person.” OKAAAAY!! So explain why Bermuda has only experience a rise in crime in the past few years when herb has been used since……

It has been stigmatized though as part of gang culture bla bla bla… Any underground product that is wanted be many with the profits that can be obtained through it will have undesirable incidents attatched to it.. You can fool some people but dont try that with smart people you just make yourself look stupid and ignorant want some advice? The only thing more amazing than the number of weed heads who read bernews is how these same weed heads have all the words in the world on what is best, yet are impotent. They can’t even claim to be legitimately “fighting” to legalize weed. Weed takes the fight outta people, passifies them like Malcolm X said. Makes them chumps good for nothing but running their mouth. And yes these chumps come in many flavours – lawyers, unemployed, cops, thugs…you name it. Chumps.

    • Tommy Chong says:

You have no idea what you’ve typed. Malcolm X sold marijuana to jazz musicians who later became some of his first followers. Malcolm X knew better than most that criminalization of marijuana was created to imprison & deport minorities in America so why would he side with the oppressors.

      • Future says:

Where you high when you wrote this? Even on something as accessIble as YouTube Malcolm says “the white man seeds reefer down here to pacify us…”

Stop being so passive, sober up like he and his followers did and make a difference.

        That requires maturity.

        • ABM says:

LOL!! Yo uhave no idea what that means do you?? I think you need to re-read all you information on Malcom X fella to understand what he meant by “the white man seeds reefer down here to pacify us”.

I love when people use quotes tha tthe ydo not understand to back their argument.

        • Tommy Chong says:

Actually I haven’t smoked a J for years now since my last trip to Spain where they have enough common sense to decriminalize.

I would like to see a you tube video where Malcolm talks about reefer in general as being used to pacify. I know he has many videos where he says, “They send drugs in Harlem down here to pacify us.” This is not a direct reference to weed but to many drugs that were dealt in Harlem at that time.

Besides Malcolm X was not the sharpest knife in the draw of human rights activist because if he was he would have known that he was being used by the nation of islam to recruit more followers. He didn’t come to this realization till being enlightened by Gamal Abdel Nasser, Ahmed Ben Bella & Kwame Nkrumah & then he was assassinated because of his new found enlightenment. Islam’s whole purpose is to pacify hence the greeting As-Salāmu `Alaykum so it can be considered a drug also. As Karl Marx said, “Religion is the opium of the people”

You mention maturity but maturity means educating yourself on the difference between natural & synthetic drugs. Malcolm used nutmeg a natural drug that is ten times stronger than cannabis to get over his cocaine addiction. Many Islamic followers consider weed haraam but feel that tobacco is halal which is ridiculous. This is especially ignorant when considering that in many islamic countries strains of cannabis have been cultivated for years. Most of the Dutch coffee shops best selling strains originally were came from middle eastern nations & all except one of their imported hashes comes from places where Islam is the main religion. It’s been a part of the Islamic culture for hundreds of years.

Nobody really wants to have weed legal again u crazy!!! So ppl can self medicate, make there own textiles and have fun!! No way it’s more profitable illegal.. Some think…. That way prices stay high for big dealers. gov agencies get larger budgets each year to fight, search for drugs kick down doors and the like. I would like to say incarcerate but we dn have private prisons like some places. Bottom line really is that we have draconian laws here and a vast amount of nieve uninformed ppl around…
I kinda feel sorry for the person(s) who those plants belonged to.. That could have been good funds for somebodies family which in turn may have been spent in bda buisinesses etc..

I hear all this buy bda stuff well it’s looking like more import…..

It’s really sad how ppl get alianated in there own country. Judged.. discriminated.

Just because I have an opinion I’m high and can’t reason?? Wsup with these personal attacks?? Well I think I have a fairly good education. I typically gross about 130k a year so I think I’m making out pretty good for myself. I actually only smoke when I travel so if I go say England or u.s….. If I was tested right now I would be clean mate lol.. I’m what you call an advocate.. You know what that is right??

          • Future says:

If you knew anything about testing, you would know it can pickup activity from months ago, or longer. Stay clean. You have at least proven you can for periods of time. We need advocates for sanity, not pacification and stupor.

            • Split milk says:

I am passified but yet we are having a dialogue on a divisive issue… The fact I am clean should intice you to find out some more facts about marijuana. Y am I not addicted?? Sure smoking can be habit forming and a health risk but that’s what a vaporizer is for.. somebody should make you some space cakes.. Then we can all sit off and engage in some healthy discussion. What do you say?? I have a few good reads for you as well if your interested…

        • ABM says:

What is your stance on the real dope heads then, how about the alchoholics and the cigarete smokers?? All that I have mentioned are medically proven, in addition to poll proven, to have far greater side effects, a high killing and cancer causing rate, in addtion to much harsher mind altering effects. Not to point the finger at you, but take weed out of the equation and things will remain the same here in Bda. Only because the real drugs net the dealers a much higher income and it keeps the ‘fiends’ coming back for more, who in turn break into houses to steal goods to get that illustrious high.

You make me laugh. You sure know it all!

  12. this again!!! says:

Same topic Same lame arguement, and for all the wrong reasons,,before i start lets meake it known that yes i do smoke weed ,do i think it should be legal in bda no not yet because the majority only want it that way because they smoke as well but thats only one of 5000 different things it can be used for from cures, gas, oil, clothes and so much more but we are crying for it to be legal for all the wrong reasons..should hemp be legalized yes but unfortunately its the same plant and would never happen..its such a shame that people come on here and post comments before they have actually read anything about weed and its pros n cons…

  13. More with less says:

It is amazing the lack of knowledge that can easily be attained by google.

  14. More with less says:

Lets start a revolution to make alcohol illegal. Any of you on board? No more rum a dumb.

    • Will says:

no, the point is to end prohibition, not replace it with another one! We all know the harmful effects prohibition of alcohol caused, they were far worse than what alcohol does to oneself. Tighter regulation on alcohol, limits per units consumed at a bar etc… Marijuana should be considered the same. A taxable commodity that has far lesser consequences than alcohol use does, and can be eaten, smoked, vapourised and used as a topical ointment.

And what really chaps my ass is when people call it dope. The same people who go out and love to drink for the drunkenness of it; take a look in the mirror the next time you are drunk and wake up with a hangover, then tell me who looks like they are on dope and look dopey!

      • More with less says:

I am totally with you. I was being sarcastic because it just shows how many people are hypocritical. They all want to make marijuana out to be something its not all the while ignoring what is right in front of their face. I am not saying marijuana is harmless by any means. But it is a hell of a a lot less harmless than alcohol and cigarettes as one can see from the deaths per year related to these legal substances. If you are against marijuana legalization then you should be out fighting for alcohol to be illegal, otherwise it is hypocritical.

      • Future says:

That’s dope-y. Leave weed and alcohol alone. They fry your brain.

  15. Kno dat says:

Look the Plants are not being seized to be destroyed
they will be back on the streets
    WAKE UP BERMUDA!!!

    • Come Correct says:

Yes I’m sure they have them curing, hanging in a dark dry space as we speak. Then in about 3 weeks instead of fighting crime they will be cutting and placing all the bud in jars, only to come back each day to crack the jars and air them out. They’re going to do all this work for…let’s be generous…40lbs? This is all being done in their secret underground marijuana curing center beneath the new Dame Lois building? Why would you do that when you can bust a shipment of 100lbs with all the work done for you? All this is, is a big “hey rich people, we just irradicated this “deadly” plant from your nice upscale neighborhood…see, we are doing something”.

      • Will says:

no way you can get a pound per plant here, cant grow them that big because of detection…not to mention it takes a master grower to achieve that. Herb will probably yield a couple of ounces once dried here..and drying due to humidity can be a b!tch!

  16. Serious Though says:

    DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU THINK!!!!!!!

  17. interesting says:

Winners dont smoke weed, Champions do! who is the most decorated medalist of all time???? I am glad you asked Michael Phelps a known herbalist!

abuse will lead to miss steps

  18. pabear says:

    f@#k them that can’t take a toke

  19. bricksnbails says:

My whole thing is , what if this person was doing this because of no work… Maybe he’s got a youth on the way..
Times are hard right now… People say jobs are out there, but not everyone is able to get a job. What happens too the people who can’t work
Who can’t support their family. Not all the time its someones GanG or some drug lord. It could be the guy you sit next too on the bus everyday who smells funny.
Yes its illegal, but be for real what harm is this person doing by planting trees and being able too support his family. Or I guess going out stealing from peoples better…hell no right cause you all would be here mad at that too.
Concentrate more on people shooting each other, home invasions, sex crimes, attacks on tourists, and finally find out what’s really feeding the gang culture. Jealousy and greed.

  20. Who Cares says:

How about with everything happening in this little small Island called Bermy, one may need a good spliff after a hard days work. I wish people will stop acting like they are so perfect all the time. The same ones on here screwing on the herb are the same ones bringing it in, growing it etc. And by the way it will never stop a real weed head so let it go, becauseI look forward daily to hold a meditation after a hard days work you should try it one day to see how much more at ease you feel once you have wind down.

Blaze up the Natural Healings, and don’t forget to just Puff it Puff It so your head a just a float…………….
