Smith Finishes 3rd In France DecaNation Meet

Fresh off his Olympic appearance, Bermuda’sT yrone Smith finished third in the Men’s Long Jump in the DecaNation Track and Field Meet in France.

Smith recorded a foul on his first attempt, before leaping 7.62m on his second attempt. Smith leaped 7.64m on his third attempt and then reached the 7.68m mark on his fourth attempt.

Smith did not jump his fifth and sixth available attempts as he finished tied with Nicholas Gomont who also leaped 7.68m, twice. Pavel Shalin from Russia won the event with a leap of 7.82m, which came on his sixth attempt.

The DécaNation is an annual track and field meeting organized by the French Athletics Federation [Fédération Française d'Athlétisme] since 2005. The organizers had invited Smith to compete after his Olympic appearance.
