Four Men Brandishing Gun Break Into Home

March 13, 2013

Four men gained entry into a Warwick home last night [Mar 12], with one of the offenders brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. A 31-year-old male occupant was injured and taken to KEMH via ambulance where he was treated and released.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:20pm on Tuesday, March 12th police officers responded to a reported burglary at a Camp Drive, Warwick residence.

“It appears that four unknown men gained entry into the home and accosted the occupants before making good their escape on foot. During the incident one of the offenders brandished what appeared to be a firearm.

“One of the occupants, a 31 year old man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was treated and later released. The suspects are believed to be four young men wearing dark coloured clothing and helmets with visors.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information, particularly anyone who may have seen any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity in the Camp Road, Warwick area around 11pm Tuesday, is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Derricka Burns at the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

  1. Fry I says:

    No erb on d island

    • gramous says:

      Yup.

    • The truth says:

Ok, so now you have truth. FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO SAY WEED IS WORSE THAN ALCOHOL/NON ADDICTIVE STFU……IT’S A DRUG AND CLEARLY IT FKS PEOPLE UP.

      • OH BOY says:

greed kills get it right. more people die from peanuts a year than weed. you cant OD on weed you go sleep. cant say the same about the legal drugs.

      • Come Correct says:

Coffee leads to hypertension and heart attacks, so do energy drinks, all legal thus no black market, come again.

        • Richard says:

yeah but people are not stealing from their boss or breaking into people houses to buy coffee or energy drinks lol

          • Orbit says:

People are not stealing from their boss to buy herb and are not breaking into houses to get a fix of herb lol. This was targeted. Some people are stuck on stupid.

          • Tommy Chong says:

UUUMMM!!! You can buy energy drinks & coffee from many stores here for less than $50. Thugs feel it’s not worth the risk to steal energy drinks or coffee. Now if energy drinks or coffee were made illegal & the wanksters charged $50 for a can or cup of some………

“Yo! PSST! I got some high grade red bull here.”

          • Come Correct says:

Because they are legal, thanks for proving the point.

          • More with less says:

You just proved the point silly.

      • Tommy Chong says:

You must be that kid in nursery school who used to try & put the square block in the round hole.

The reason thugs a robbing others for their herb is because the wanksters have put the price up so high its worth more than platinum. There will always be those numpties who have more money than brains & will pay outrageous prices for things. This can be seen when people pay thousands for vinyl designer bags & luxury cars that they only drive to work & then home. The problem comes when its something that is prohibited so there is no regulated price. People can’t go to the police or government & complain that the dealers are ripping people off, there is no cash for weed type place that takes pictures of the buds so the police can tell if their stolen & its highly unlikely that victims will press charges or even contact law enforcement when they are robbed of their herb. This has nothing to do with the plant & everything to do with the prohibition of it. If the government prohibited iphones tomorrow I guarantee people would go against the law & still use them, there would be a black market for iphones & the price on underground iphones would be in the thousands.

Hopefully you have gotten over sticking blocks in the wrong place & can at least slightly understand this concept.

        • .am says:

“There will always be those numpties who have more money than brains & will pay outrageous prices for things. This can be seen when people pay thousands for vinyl designer bags & luxury cars that they only drive to work & then home.”

Wouldn’t that all be relative to your financial circumstances? 30k can pay for college or a car or a camera or one of the lower end Patek Phillipe watches. Who are you to call them ‘numpties’ for paying for what they want? That’s like calling someone an idiot for buying Advil over a generic drug.

          • Tommy Chong says:

It’s not relative to financial circumstances it’s relative to the state of mind. Don’t you know any wealthy people who drive the smallest cheapest car & have a limited wardrobe that gets recycled in weekly washings? I guess the incorrect part of my comment is the more money than brains since at the other end there are some who can’t afford what they have but buy anyway to keep up appearances. I too have been a victim to numptyism & apologies to those who are & feel insulted by the comment as it is an addiction that I sympathies with. I have been guilty of buying things I don’t really need & didn’t realize till a year or two later when I saw others chuck there things away because no one wanted to buy them because they weren’t the latest. Mass Consumerism is one of the biggest killers of the world & society & I felt ashamed to be a part of it. We have a massive waste problem in Bermuda that pollutes our ocean & ponds but I’ve never seen it made news. We also have a growing envy problem in Bermuda that has gone as far as people killing one another to get what they have. We don’t even have a government past or present that wants to address these issues because it may affect them or their friends if there was a change.

      • jake best says:

went to the doctor the other day, got these pills with a long name so i did some research on what it was ,,and the side effectlist was so long ,,one was posable death

        • .am says:

They have to list everything to protect themselves – even if that side effect hasn’t actually been seen with that specific drug.

  2. Come Correct says:

No mention of anything stolen, or is what was stolen not mentionable to the police? Stop the weed and this is what happens, not the first time and the people in charge still haven’t grasped this concept yet.

  3. Sunshine says:

Are you lot serious!!! people’s lives are at stake and all you can say is no erb!! Even if thats the truth, all I can say is that this island is going to Hell in a Hand Basket real fast!!

    • Bda says:

you really must not know… this island needs the herb and bad…

      • Puff the magic dragon says:

It’s serious man, my boys going out dere mind. Open the ports, let de weed through, or we going craziiiieeeeee

    • Toodle-oo says:

From all that I’ve gleaned about herb use reading through this site for a very long time I thought that herb pacified people and made them calm and fun loving . Did I miss something ?

Where are the accusations (that never come up ) when something like this happens that it was a lush who was struggling for his Night Train or Elephant ?

      • Necromonger says:

The Lack of erb causes people to act errational and idiotic.

These thugs broke in looking for drugs or money or personal beef.

If they were smoking or had erb themselves to sell they probably would have waited till they saw the victim out in the street to assault him, if it was just a personal beef.

Erb does pacify and eases the stress…

        • Booze cruise says:

You say that if they were smoking or had erb themselves they would have waited to assault him in the street and then you say erg does pacify and eases the stress. Do you really mean eases the guilt?

      • Come Correct says:

Yes you’re missing something…like the fact everyone is saying there is barely any weed on the island. How can you be pacified if you have none? Other than 2007 this happens every year, supply of weed goes down crime goes up. Just recently its gotten worse since you have a certain group of people that will steal yours if they find out you have it. Now you’ve ‘gleaned’ a bit more.

    • OH BOY says:

ok make alcohol illegal and wait till it dries up, then see what happens to the island its a very similar effect! never studied the us prohabition? crime was very high. govt gave way and crime dropped. now you dont hear about the gangs selling alcahol anymore!

  4. swing voter says:

has nothin 2 do with erb…..like most home invasions….more likely to be a personal beef

    • Bermuda Male says:

Nah. These instances have everything to do with the serious “drought” on the island…

      • WEED DOES KILL says:

Ok, so it is safe to assume that “WEED DOES IN FACT KILL?” Luckily no one was killed in this instance, but there was allegedly a GUN involved. Next time the gun may actually be used. And when someone DOES get killed as a result of this “drought” can we all then agree that yes, WEED DOES IN FACT KILL? Hope when it happens it’s no one that I love.

        Weed kills.

        • Come Correct says:

Your logic is flawed, prohibition is what gives birth to this violence. You could say the exact same thing about when alcohol was prohibited and now look where it is. Prohibition is what gave rise to Al Capone, one of the most notorious gangsters ever. Prohibition has failed since its inception, it does absolutely nothing but create a black market, and who benefits from black markets, not governments or law abiding citizens.

As for your semi-retarded comment below… I smoke, when I have weed, at the end of my days before I go to sleep. So in your opinion I should be killed? Have you not realized that marijuana is being legalized across the states now and used as medicine? Very effective medicines according to certain studies and no not by greedy pharmaceutical companies that would lose billions in the sale of synthetic medications to a single plant. I’m starting to believe “pot heads” are actually smarter than sober people. Stop listening to what you’re told, do some real research and take your stupid opinions, sit on them and spin.

          • winwater says:

I enjoyed reading your comment. I like the open mind approach.

  5. Come Correct says:

@Sunshine, did your statement just contradict itself? Legalize we and there’s no profit in selling it on the black market. If the government sells a good clean product which would add an additional revenue stream who is going to buy from some street thug? So it defeats the purpose of invading somebody’s home to take theirs.

@nottherealswingvoter, if what you say is true why doesn’t he have bullet holes in him? The gun is to ensure they get what they came for, most people wont resist a gun so you lessen the chance of adding an additional offence to the one being committed.

  6. therealknowthyself says:

Reminds of the time this lady broke into my house. I believe she was on drugs…. Well she caught me coming out of the shower with my robe on…and while I like cougars this wasn’t the ideal circumstance. I became flaccid/paralyzed on sight. It was an awful experience…I chased her out of my house as my sidekick and family rubies ferociously swayed to and fro…I was vexed. Home invasion of privacy is never cool. My house is well protected now..

  7. jake best says:

they are targeting the guys who they hear have the erb,,
y dont you fools listen to the people that know wats happening out here,, why would we BS you lot?

  8. The Devils Isle says:

This is corruption at its best. How can the new government fight for rights for the Gay and Lesbian community but yet still keep Marijauana illeagal !!! Its because they dont want the community to be calm or relaxed they like to see us in an uproar while they The ruling party are sitting back laughing at whats going on.. Just like Mark Pettingil said Bermuda is behind times as far as Gay and Lesbian rights are concerned we are way behind times as far as decriminalizing Marijauna for small amounts… In some countries its used for cancer and medicak uses why cant we get that here…. HOW MANY MORE MURDERS OR BREAK INS WILL OCCUR BEFORE THEY DO WHATS RIGHT..

  9. $$$$ says:

WHERES ALL THE HERB??? THIS DROUGHT NEEDS TO END, AND IT NEEDS TO END NOW. NO HERB MEANS MORE CRIME. AND YOU PEOPLE WHO DONT BELIEVE US OR SAY THATS NOT THE PROBLEM DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE YOU LOT AINT ON THE STREETS OR SMOKE HERB LIKE THE REST OF US. $50 IS GETTING YOU 2 JOINTS NOW. SOME PLACES 1. AND YOU WONDER WHY ITS ALL THESE HOME INVASIONS NOW. THEY ARE TARGETING THE PEOPLE WHO THEY THINK HAVE THE HERB. YOU CAN DISAGREE WITH ME ALL YOU WANT I DONT REALLY CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. THE TRUTH IS SINCE THIS DROUGHT STARTED ITS BEEN MORE CRIME.

    • WEED DOES KILL says:

So let all the druggies kill each other then. End of story. Remove the problem. Self-irradication.

Keep in mind, if you are one of these parents or grannies that knows your “well-raised kid” is dealing out of your house but you won’t do anything about it because you like the cash, you may just want to move out on your own and support yourself for a little while. Never know when someone is going to come to your house wearing dark clothing and a tinted visor (and carrying an alleged gun). This article and the comments made sure sound like a serious warning to me!

      • REAL TALK says:

Just let me correct you on one thing. Marijuana is a herb put on this earth by the ALMIGHTY , it is not a drug. The #1 killing drug in the world is alcohol. Here on this little island we call home there are more establishment that sell alcohol then there are churches. CHECK IT OUT….

        • Fruity says:

As much as I can agree with the almighty providing such green & livestock – I disagree about the alcohol. It is the man behind the trigger of the gun or holding the weapon or using self force that kills. A substance is only that of ‘a substance’; its effects are various….the conditions multiply. It is the person with a mind of “whatever” that should be called killer.
This is just my opinion after yours, sadly we usually don’t get the authority to judge and make ruling.

        • .am says:

And man created the almighty. What’s your point?

    • Kathy says:

There’s a GOOD reason to legalise the erb!!!!

I hope when u drink your alcohol and smoke your cancer sticks worse will happen to u %&@hole!

    • OH BOY says:

how can u say that. obviosly you sound like one of the sheep. why is it you’ll take a prescription drug without researching it because someone tells you its good. the cause more problems than they help! why do you think they have that huge sideeffects disclaimer in small writing thats pages long. you take a drug for sleep for example you can induce coma vomitting death. but you doctor gives this to you. drugs are a billion dollar industry its all about greed. i hope ur next prescription makes your brains mush

    • Pray for them says:

First of all Marijuana does not make you go cold turkey. I think you are confusing this drug for coke or dope, that is when people go cold turkey marijuana is a natural high. If you don’t know then don’t assume please.

Legalize it and don’t critize it.

      Bless

Just in case you didn’t know(which is evident that you don’t) If the Usa was to legalize Mary now…the rest of this world would also before the ink dried on Baraks Executive Order. The Mighty Military Force of the world is the USA…The Almighty Currency control is Great Britain…and the Worlds Religious faction is the Vatican…and China is the Worlds Manufacturer. The US owes money that they will never recover from, debts have to be paid therefore being the largest arms and drug smugglers in the world, why would they legalize and lose trillions, this is all factual information that is published but not in the headlines, because they dont want you to know about it, but its there if you research diligently… i could go on all night with info that you would try to discredit because of your inability to accept cold hard truths…truths that would curl your straight hair or straighten your curly hair…it is no loner a conspiracy theory once one shred of evidence has been proven, which it has.

    • Come Correct says:

I’ve actually thought about this, and presenting our government with a basic proposal of legalization (decriminalization will only fuel the gangs further). How many people do you think will show their faces to be demonized as lazy brainless zombies and risk losing their precious jobs especially the ones with mandatory drug testing? Would you put your name at the top of that testing list? Then again with a big enough turn out it could be as effective as a general stike.

  16. Crazy says:

It’s crazy that the government complains about not having money if they legalized weed and actually taxed it they actually make some money and maybe be debt free within the next couple, most of Bermudas population smoke weed even some politicians

    • Flapper says:

No as international business would leave = lost jobs and revenue, a black market would be more prevalent to undercut the taxed price and the cost of collecting and regulating would outweigh the monies raised.

      Your spouting a myth.

      • Tommy Chong says:

Has international business left switzerland where its decriminalized & use is tolerated in some cantons? I think not & in fact some IB workers want to go work in switzerland because they can go to the tolerated cantons to have a draw in their free time.

Is there a black market to undercut the taxed price and the cost of collecting and regulating alcohol? No of course not because people rather not go an illegal route if theres a legal one available. The Netherlands government has done this for years with little to no issues except complaints in one municipality of…… TOO MANY TOURIST? The only other complaints are from France & Germany who want to pass the buck of their drug problems onto Netherlands. MAny have visions of Netherlands being a place full of strung out junkies but once visited realize how safe, organized & junkie free the majority of their streets are.

Your the one spouting antiquated myths generated by a dead & gone racist drug czar who couldn’t take the idea that his aryan daughters liked African American jazz musicians who happened to smoke weed.

  17. “Row, Row? Row! Ur boat, gently down the stream…hey! Merrily, Merrily? Merrily! Life is but a dream…STOP.”
As we fuzz, fume, fight, break n enter, beat up one another, verbally attack one another, kill one another n continuously hate on one another, we will find there is no unity among us! There is no strength between us! Disrespect has set in like a chicken sets her eggs! The love we have lost. The mix up moods n attitudes conglomerated with black on black violence and literally blaming everyone but those who need to man up to their rightful responsibilties, we shall always be stagnant n in total denial that someone is wrong; when if fact it is we ourselves, doing it too ourselves AND it must STOP.
Whether there is “ganja” on the island or NOT; the response n disrespect n attacks n home invasions are par. Bermudians has had it so good n extravagant that CHANGE has come n there are those whom CANNOT deal with change in life n therefore cannot change their mind set or attitude because they are stuck on stupid. So until we all deal with change n come parallel with life’s agendas this day, then we will NEVER progress n go forward; especially if we carry baggage that we can no longer use in this present day society. We can legalise all the herb/weed/ganja n the like, BUT we cannot n will not legalise the mindset of individuals whom remain antequated. The results we find right now is because their heads are not screwed on right or tight n their chambers has no batteries included. It’s a rust out n a brain blow out. It is nothing to do with the shortage of herb, because one should control it n not it (herb) control u. Act right. Get a hold on ur life. Grow up n respect yourselves n in due course people will respect u. “Tired fe lick weed ina bush; tired fe smoke weed in the gully”. Legalize it to protect our island home. Where is the equal rights n justice. Just asking!!!!!!!!

  18. Future says:

It is amazing how weed causes people to be irrational yet insist they are being logical. Even a child can see some of the most deadly substances on this earth are made by God hence the juvenile argument for legalization on that basis is insane. For all those who promote this idiocy, go eat some wild mushrooms and then come back and substantiate your comment. Before you do that though, note people continue to die from preparing wild mushrooms found in public spaces.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57548476/wild-mushroom-warnings-fail-to-prevent-deaths-in-calif/

(This is the point where you abandon this argument and change the subject trying to use say, alcohol as a distraction seeing as your argument can’t stand on its own merits. And if insults and name calling are your mechanisms for diverting attention from objective facts, no, I don’t drink alcohol or smoke)

Calling these pro-herb comments on this site half witted would be a compliment. It is amazing just how many less than half wired folks comment on this site. Learn to use your mind people. E.g. Substances don’t remove “stress”. They will pacify you though, which is why there has never been and will never be any serious movement by the herb heads to do do anything. The most that herb heads can do to progress their empty cause is to….make anonymous posts….Chumps.

    • Come Correct says:

The mushrooms you speak of are poisonous clown. The “high” is your body combating the poison. Alcohol, readily available almost anywhere, a poison. The reason there has been no serious movement is because, like I said above, people will be demonized for their choice to use an organic substance. You always have something stupid to say about this topic but bottom line is if I have the freedom of choice to drink alcohol or clorox I should have the right to use marijuana the way I choose.

      • OH BOY says:

        FULLY AGREED

      • Tommy Chong says:

        I agree also.

It’s funny how Future typed, “The most that herb heads can do to progress their empty cause is to….make anonymous posts….Chumps”

anonymous posts?!?!?! I sympathize with this poster if Future is not their real name & not an anonymous. You poor person! Some parents don’t think when they name their children. I guess all the animosity towards herbalist comes from some herb heads teasing Future in high school about their name. Don’t worry Future in the Future you might decide to go to the registrar general & change your name to Past as it better suits where your mind set is. :D

You people with these free up the weed comments need to seriously stop using the internet. Because you’re filling it with utter crap. So your great idea is to bring in more drugs to the island to stop the crime….seems legit. I really wish we didn’t share the same nationality.

    • Come Correct says:

The US is doing it because they’re losing trillions to Mexican drug cartels. I suppose you want to keep doing the same thing and expect a different result?

Do people kill each other for their alcohol at present? They did in the 1930s when it was illegal.

In Bermuda groceries, restaurants, pharmacies, cafés & health stores sell drugs & there is no crime there. Seems legit?

I really wish some of my nationality really educated themselves about drugs instead of basing their knowledge on past down superstitions. At least we don’t get roaches stuck down our throats anymore when sick but we still have a long way to go.

        how many deaths from weed?

        come on chong

        • Tommy Chong says:

I think you missed my point. Your preaching to the choir.

My point is people don’t kill each other for alcohol because it is not criminalized. Sure they kill themselves & others when they use alcohol but this is more of a problem due to lack of control of use of the substance.

Its crazy that law enforcement think they have control of any of the substance decriminalized or criminalized in Bermuda when its obvious they don’t. Bermuda needs to check itself before it wrecks itself.

Just a little breakdown for the commenters who may wonder what a decriminalized substance in Bermuda is. Use of alcohol is illegal till the age of 18, its illegal to sell without a license, its illegal to distribute to minors & its illegal to operate a vehicle after going over the legal consumption amount. Hence alcohol is decriminalized & use is tolerated under certain conditions not fully legal. Hey, its not orange juice folks!

I think you need to get out & explore the world more. Have you read the tourist blogs on the cruise ship arrest & fines of tourist with one joint? You’ll be surprised how many tourist share the same view & look at Bermudas laws as antiquated & would rather vacation somewhere they can blaze.

In relation to the privacy/life being threatened this is happening more than the police know. Much of the robberies & assaults go unreported because its over thugs suspicion of someone having “Erb” because prohibition has caused the price to go so high thugs feel its worth assaulting others to steal from them & resell. People are afraid of the repercussions of admitting to police they had an illegal substance that they were mugged for. Just think logically for a second about all other robbery reports you have ever read about. Don’t they usually say what was stolen or an estimated amount of stolen goods. Why doesn’t this one? It was classified as a robbery not just an assault wasn’t it? HMMMMM!!!!

Lol oh you’re worried about teens and drugs are you?… Please, tell me more about this ritalin stuff we shove down our kids throats…

Although drugs are immoral and must be kept from the young, thousands of schools pressure parents to give the drug Ritalin to any lively child who may, sensibly, show signs of boredom in his classroom. Ritalin renders the child docile if not comatose. Side effects? “Stunted growth, facial tics, agitation and aggression, insomnia, appetite loss, headaches, stomach pains and seizures.” Marijuana would be far less harmful. – Gore Vidal, THE WAR AT HOME, November 1998

Ritalin is being prescribe less now. The sigmund freuds feel its better to prescribe Desoxyn now. YUP! Desoxyn A.K.A. Methamphetamine A.K.A. street names meth, ice, crystal, glass, tik or by the most notorious name crystal meth.

Dark chocolate & fish oils works just good or sometimes better for child behavior problems then Ritalin or Desoxyn. Plus doesn’t turn children into zombies & future drug addicts. Thats if the parents whole goal isn’t to turn their kids into zombies so they don’t have to be a parent. If the zombified kid is the goal I suggest adoption as an alternative so not to continue a cycle of neglect.

So drugs are bad and crime is bad so let’s endorse more drugs to reduce crime. Weed kills brain cells fo’ sho! Chasing a high reveals an empty soul. And the high never will fill that emptiness. The same God that made weed also made you wi an inherent freedom to choose. Reliance on any substance rather than your will to navigate the inevitable issues in life is for the spiritually immature. Sme must transition through this phase. Society needs to limit the damage they do to the wider society in the mean time. And no we are not asking the weed heads for permission. They claim it is their business yet they jack up m insurance bills every year with folly. There is one blogger who claims he makes over $100k a year at his legit job while he still smokes. Way he fails to see is once he gets clean, he will be making $250k a year.

Sober up! The same issues that were there before you got high are still there when you come down. Only you have less brain cells to deal with it now. And let’s face it, some of you did not start off with the greatest dispensation of brain cells…

So why is it a burglary but yet nothing is mentioned being stolen? Think before you speak and listen to the ones that know what’s going on, or just ignore the problem maybe it will fix itself.
