Results: Women’s & Men’s Division Hockey
The hockey pitch at the National Sports Center saw action from both the men’s and women’s divisions this past weekend. In the men’s division, Pantheons out played the Polecats 6 – 1 while in the women’s games, Ravens teams One and Two went head to head to tie 3 – 3 and Cardinals lost to Bluebirds 1 – 2.
Men’s Division:
Pantheons 6 Polecats 1
The Pantheons took a 1 – 0 lead in the 12th minute when Tony Ward scored a field goal. In the 41st minute Ward doubled the lead with his second field goal of the game and Mark Finnigan then made it 3 – 0 to the Pantheons in the 44th minute scoring from a penalty corner.
Richard Marriott pulled a goal back for the Polecats when he scored a field goal in the 53rd minute but Ward completed his hat-trick scoring a field goal in the 56th minute.
Gary Klingbiel put the Pantheons 5 – 1 ahead in the 64th minute scoring a field goal and then Steve Miles closed out the scoring in the 67th minute for the Pantheons with a field goal.
Women’s Division:
Ravens One 3 Ravens Two 3
The Ravens number One team went in front in the 17th minute when Georgia Harris scored from a field goal but the Ravens Second team would then stun the first team by scoring three consecutive times.
Emma Simmons scored a field goal in the 34th minute to level the score at 1 – 1 then put the Second team in front when she scored from a penalty corner in the 40th minute. When Isabella Boonstra scored from a penalty corner three minutes later, the Ravens Second team held a 3 – 1 lead.
Katie Masters would pull a goal back for the Ravens One team scoring a field goal in the 45th minute and then Emma Norman drew the Ravens level when she scored a field goal in the 65th minute as the two teams shared the points.
Cardinals 1 Bluebirds 2
Nickki Murray-Mason gave the Bluebirds the lead in the 24th minute scoring a field goal. The lead would be doubled when Debra Sagurs scored from a penalty corner in the 38th minute. Nastassia Moses pulled a goal back for the Cardinals when she scored from a penalty corner in the 57th minute.
