Photos: Rally Yachts Stopover In St George’s
The Town of St. George’s is busy with approximately 30 visiting yachts taking part in the Arc Europe and Atlantic Cup rallies joining other yachts that stopover in the island while in transit across the Atlantic.
The yachts are moored throughout the harbour with the St. George’s Dinghy & Sports Club and Ordnance Island area providing the best views of the crafts. Bermuda Yacht Services on Ordnance Island who are known to host some of the larger luxury motor yachts also have a dock full of visiting sailors.
Organised by the World Cruising Club, the Arc Europe Rally has two starts; from the Chesapeake on the US East Coast, and from Nanny Cay in Tortola, British Virgin Islands; with the two fleets meeting in Bermuda. They will go on to cruise the Azores before the final voyage to Europe.
The Atlantic Cup Rally starts from Nanny Cay in Tortola, British Virgin Islands and sails first to Bermuda, then on to the US East Coast. Event Manager Lyall Burgess and St. George’s Dinghy & Sports Club Commodore Lacey Jennings took a moment out from the Saturday night Pirate Party to speak with us.

Nice photographs. Especially like the wide angle of Ordinance Island shot. What filter used to give the watercolour effect?
