Retailers To Host Fashion Night Extravaganza
Hamilton retailers will be pulling out all the stops tomorrow night [May 9] for their annual Fashion Night extravaganza.
Chamber Retail Division Chair and Gibbons Company CEO, Paula Clarke noted; “We are very excited to announce plans for tomorrow’s Fashion Night Out, another great late night shopping opportunity in Hamilton.
Businesses from Court Street to Front Street will be participating in the event, and not just clothing stores; hair, makeup, accessories, jewelry and even home décor specialists will all be featuring demonstrations and offering fabulous discounts. The idea is to create a real buzz throughout the entire City, to get people into the stores and starting to think about their summer wardrobes.”
Ms. Clarke went on to explain what shoppers should expect on the night. “There will be fashion shows, hair demonstrations, wine tastings, music and great discounts at all participating stores. The focus will be on fashion and fun. Like Harbour Nights, this the night to see and be seen in the City.”
The event is seen as a much needed shot in the arm for lagging retail sales an as Ms. Clarke explained, the benefits go way beyond the retail sector.
“When we shop locally we are stimulating the entire economy, because the retailers we support use our money to pay wages, undertake upgrades to their facilities and reinvest in their product. In turn wages are used to buy other goods and services, the construction industry is stimulated and Government benefits from increased import duties. Economists refer to this as the trickledown effect and in Bermuda the impact is significant. Go Local is much more than a slogan, it is a vital component of our economy.”
It all comes down to the variety of items not to mention of style! Think of the customers they want to see in their store and buy those items!
Just make sure the store have the stuff to sell… I went to one store they said the item is arriving in a few days. Went back o it’s not coming. So you wonder why people shop online?
How can you ‘go local’ when there’s nothing to buy local?
