Yellow Brick Road Band On Island Wide Tour

May 27, 2013

The Yellow Brick Road Band, Bermuda’s newest contemporary reggae band, is currently on an island-wide tour. The eight-week spring tour began on May 3rd at Chewstick in Hamilton and will continue each Friday at a different local venue until June 21st. The next performance date is Friday, May 31st at the St. George’s Dinghy Club.

The band decided to stage a local tour as a way to participate in reviving the local entertainment scene. Keyboardist and YBRB member, James Richardson said, “Our band motto is “Together We Go” which reflects our philosophy of taking individual and collective responsibility for our ailing entertainment industry.

“By working together and bringing our individual talents to bear, we are rebuilding our robust culture of local music and entertainment. That’s our goal.” Tickets for each concert are $10 at the door.

Mr. Richardson added, “We wanted to keep the ticket price down because we appreciate that many people are being challenged financially during these difficult economic times. We believe that good music is good for the soul. We hope that by keeping the price affordable, more people will come out, relax and enjoy what we have to offer.”

The group, which consists of some of Bermuda’s most seasoned musicians, is quickly building a loyal following of fans that enjoy their unique style of roots rock reggae music and original songs.

Commenting on the support the band has received Mr. Richardson said, “We would like to thank those who have supported the tour thus far – the Chewstick family, the local community clubs, our technical support team and of course our fans.”

The Yellow Brick Road Band Members are: Mitchelle “Live Wires” Trott – vocals, “Juice” Roberts – vocals/guitar, Kevin “Aswad” Wilson – vocals/percussion, James “Jazzpriest” Richardson – keys, Larry “Cocky” Steede – keys, Sidney “Yendis” Simmons – bass, Leroy Francis – drums.
