Meet Miss Smiths: Katherine Arnfield
In the first of a series of profiles of contestants, Bernews today spotlights Katherine Arnfield who is representing Smiths Parish in the Miss Bermuda Pageant, which will be held on June 23rd.
The Saltus Grammar School student has been on the school’s Honour Roll and received awards in swimming and dancing. Miss Arnfield spends some of her spare time volunteering for Windreach, working at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo and the Matilda Smith Nursing Home.
Miss Arnfield has modeled for the past two and a half years, both locally and abroad. “I have had the pleasure of being invited and walking in two London Fashion Weeks in 2011 and 2012″, Miss Arnfield said.
“It is a tremendous thrill to walk on the catwalk at the City Hall here in Bermuda or on the International stage and to the best of my ability, display a designer’s beautiful clothes”.
Asked why she entered Miss Bermuda, the 17-year-old said, “The Miss Bermuda pageant is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Already I have met many new people and experienced events and new challenges that I may not have had the chance to do otherwise. I love Bermuda so much and the opportunity to represent and promote my country is a true honour”.
Asked what she has enjoyed about the experience so far Miss Arnfield said, “Being part of Miss Bermuda 2013 has been very enjoyable and rewarding in so many ways.
“Whether attending functions [it really boosts one’s confidence if you can make people feel at ease and comfortable in social situations], the photo shoots and learning the dance routines were so much fun, together with getting to know my fellow contestants.
“I feel seminars on public speaking were particularly beneficial wherever my future education and career takes me. All aspects of the pageant have been enjoyable and memorable and will hopefully make me a more confident and complete person”.
Miss Arnfield also said, “I would like to thank Daisy’s for very kindly sponsoring me, the organisers of Miss Bermuda, particularly Milika Trott Seymour who has done so much to make participating in the Miss Bermuda contest so enjoyable and also my family and friends who have given me so much support”.
The 2013 Miss Bermuda Pageant is scheduled to take place Sunday June 23rd, at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel where reigning queen Rochelle Minors will crown her successor. Tickets are on sale now here on bdatix.bm, with ticket prices starting from $65. View all our Miss Bermuda coverage here.

The sun is out and ready to be soaked up – you could do with a bit of colour on those lilly white legs of yours!

Miss Arnfield is clearly an exceptionally beautiful and smart young lady who also manages to find time to volunteer. She sets a very high standard in the Miss Bermuda Pageant. I wish her and all the contestants good luck in the Pageant.
I’m movin’ to Smiths…
Stunning, talented, hard working and well spoken. You’ve definitely got a great chance at winning this!
DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
Good luck, girls. I was Miss Bermuda in 1980 and through that journey of going to Miss Universe, I have realized all my dreams of becoming an actress for film and television, a producer, a writer for the top network Nickelodeon and of finally having my own acting studio and management company in Hollywood. Good luck. Your journey, for each of you begins NOW!!!! HAVE FUN!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!
Hold up . . . Question . . . I hear a distinct english accent!!!! Is this young lady Bermudian?????
And why would somebody’s accent have anything to do with their nationality in this day and age? Perhaps she went to boarding school, it doesn’t make her any less Bermudian just because she has an English accent.
