Day #1: O’pen Bic World Championship In Italy

On Saturday [Aug 3] eight Bermuda sailors took to the water for Day One of the O’pen Bic World Championship in Italy.

170 participants from 12 different countries including Bermuda are taking part and are split into two categories, the Under 13′s and the Under 16′s.

Sailors began in perfect sailing conditions with winds almost hitting 20+ knots. After 4 races Bermuda has 3 sailors in the top 10.

Mikey Wollmann leads the Bermuda Fleet in 6th place overall in the Under 16 Division, Wollmann has finishes of 6th, 23rd, 7th and 6th, sailors are able to throw out one race so Wollmann has 19 Net Points.

Ceci Wollmann is one spot back in 7th place and is 2nd in the Female Division, she has 20 Net Points after finishes of 27th, 10th, 3rd and 7th. The other Bermuda sailor in the top ten is Peter Dill in 9th place with 25 Net Points. Dill has recorded finishes of 18th, 15th, 5th and 5th.

Sammy Dill is in 37th place with 95 Net Points, while in 62nd place is Charis Todd with 170 Net Points. Brandon Adams is in 81st with 226 Net Points, while one spot back with the same amount of points is Aglae Perrin and Blair Blakeney rounds out the Bermuda Fleet in 86th place with 243 Net Points.

    these boats are a joke… as a sailor i believe that when the youngsters are done with optis then they should go right into laser 4.7 or laser radial

      Just to let you know…this boat is for the same kids that sail opti so you can still go to lasers after the open bic. Don’t say a boat is a joke if you’ve never sail on one
