Bermudian Sailors Competing In Halifax
Bermuda’s junior sailors have started competing Optimist North American Championships in Halifax following competitive racing and team racing performances.
A spokesperson said the event ”started with opening ceremonies on Friday May 22nd, followed by two days of racing.
“Monday was Team Racing and Bermuda fought hard. Team One [Jesse, Heath, Rex, Migiel and Alfie] had a great day battling and beating Canada, USA, and Puerto Rico eventually loosing to Team Canada #1. Bermuda #2 also battled but fell to USA3 and MEX3. A great day all around.
“Wednesday finds the fleet split with Bermuda sailors in the Gold Fleet are Jesse Savage [best race a 3rd] and Heath Meyers [best race a 3rd].
“In Silver Fleet, Elaine Jones, Calypso Coulter, Migiel Leite, Rex Henagulph and Walker Smith, while Alfie Jansa and Ishmael Dill are in the Bronze Fleet.
“The regatta is currently being led by Will Keilty [Canada] who was in Bermuda competing in Bermuda at the Junior Gold Cup last October. Full results can be found here.”
