Early Morning Fire Damages Warwick Building

A building in Warwick suffered extensive damage in an early morning fire today [Aug 16] which saw at two fire service vehicles and eight personnel extinguish the blaze.

Fire Service spokesperson Lieutenant Leonard Davis said, “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a structural fire at 5:28 am this morning  at #3 Astwood Walk, Warwick.

The Fire Service responded to the incident with two vehicles manned with eight firefighters. Sergeant De-Roy Somner stated that once the Fire Service arrived on scene, they noticed visible flames glowing from the interior of the building.

Firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus and equipped with a 1 ½ hose line quickly entered the building and brought the fire under control.

“Once the fire was extinguished, the building was ventilated to remove any hazardous smoke. An inspection of the property was carried out revealing extensive internal and structural damage. The cause of the fire is still currently under investigation,” said a spokesperson.
