Man Remains In Custody After Fatal Stabbing

As of this evening [Aug 25], a 22 year old man is still in police custody in connection with the stabbing death of Steven Jireh Iris, while the 25 year old Devonshire man who was shot is listed in stable condition in the ICU.

Mr. Iris was stabbed on Glebe Road on Friday morning and taken to KEMH via private vehicle, and the police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed a white Clio car with males who walked into the emergency department with the victim to please contact them.

The police also said that an active investigation has commenced into the shooting of a 25 year old Devonshire man who was shot on Friday evening at an Alexandria Road home. The victim was shot in his abdomen, and he is presently in the ICU listed in stable condition.

Police statement on the murder of Steven Jireh Iris:

A 22 year old man is still in police custody in relation to the stabbing death of 22 year old Steven Jireh Iris who died as a result of a stabbing that took place outside of a residence of Glebe Road near Roberts Avenue in Devonshire.

Mr. Iris was taken to the KEMH via private vehicle with serous stab wounds to the abdomen and he later succumbed to his injuries. A forensic pathologist was flown in and has just completed the autopsy into the official cause of death of Steven and the family has been notified of the findings.

We are still appealing for anyone in the Glebe Road area who may have seen anything suspicious around 8:30am-9:30am or anyone who may have been at KEMH around 9:20-9:30am who would have witnessed a white Clio car with males who walked into the emergency department with the victim, please contact Acting Detective Inspector Dennis Astwood on 247-1008 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Police statement on the shooting of a 25-year-old man:

An active investigation has commenced into the shooting of a 25 year old Devonshire man who was shot on Friday at a residence on Alexandria Road in Devonshire at around 9:40pm. The Devonshire man was shot in his abdomen and he is presently at KEMH in the ICU and is listed in stable condition.

Police are encouraged by the persons who have come forward to assist but we still are appealing to witnesses or anyone who man have seen someone acting suspiciously in the Alexandria Road area around 9:30pm to please contact police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 800 8477.

        OMG no cameras??? Wow how can that be? Ok ok there is no way cameras aren’t in the plan of our new ‘state of the art’ hospital. That’s crazy no cameras! I was thinking they ran the cameras and it wasn’t a clear view of the person or something. Goodness me!

    If someone presents at emergency with life threatening injuries, you really think they are going to look around to see who is there? The nurses would jump in and try to save this man’s life…the hospital is not the police station or prison…..
