Ian Cook Appointed CEO Of Aviation Services

September 30, 2013

Bermuda Aviation Services Limited has promoted  Ian Cook to BAS Group Chief Executive Officer.

The Company stated, “We are pleased to announce the promotion of Bermudian, Mr. Ian Cook, to the position of President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. effective 1 November, 2013. Ian will replace the current BAS CEO, Ken Joaquin, who is moving from Bermuda to Canada to join his family.

BAS Chairman, Michael Darling, said: “Ken has been a great asset to BAS over the last decade and has had a major role in our success during a time of exciting growth and acquisition. We do, however, appreciate the dynamics of family and wish Ken and his wife and children well.

“Succession planning has always been integral to BAS’s growth and success and we recognize that it is vital to develop internal talent to provide for future leadership requirements. Therefore, we were well placed in our ability to transition Ian, who had been identified as a likely successor, into the leadership role at BAS.

“Ian, with his in depth knowledge of the company’s operations and his international experience managing large service providers similar to BAS, is the ideal candidate to assume this mantle. Ian is an accomplished Engineer with more than a decade of senior management experience working in businesses in Bermuda, Europe and Dubai.

“As an Operations Manager in the UK, he project managed 12 airports through new rigorous safety and financial regulations. He has also worked as a Senior Engineering Manager in Dubai and was instrumental in opening the new Dubai World Central Airport, restructuring the business to realise cost savings and operational efficiencies.

“We are extremely fortunate that forward planning affords us the luxury of a seamless transition. Ian has made a great contribution first as the GM of our subsidiary CCS and then as Group COO. We are assured that with his academic background, strong work ethic and dynamic work experiences, the BAS Group will continue the successes and growth we have enjoyed to date.”
