Photos: ADC’s Government House Tree Planting

September 19, 2013

Ten ex-ADC’s and one serving ADC assembled at Government House on Monday [Sept 17] for a tree-planting ceremony. All were or are serving members of the Bermuda Regiment. Between all eleven, they spanned the forty year period from July 1973 to September 2013.

These four decades saw these ADC’s and others not present deal with four Royal Visits, one US Presidential stop [President George Bush], one UK Prime Ministerial visits [Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher], and two internal security embodiments of the Bermuda Regiment [1977 and 1981].

Of those present at the tree-planting, five ex-ADC’s – Eugene Raynor, David Gibbons, Edward Lambe, William White, and Brian Gonsalves – went on to become Commanding Officers of the Bermuda Regiment.

The first Bermudian to become an ADC was Alvin Daniels and he turned the first soil. Currently serving ADC Captain Clifford Powell was the last to turn the soil.
