Kennel Club To Host Dog Show This Weekend
The Bermuda Kennel Club [BKC] is getting set to hold its annual dog shows on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 & 20, 2013 at Somersfield Academy, with more at stake than just single event honours as the shows will again be used at qualifiers for the Cruft 2014 event.
These shows will welcome more than 90 dogs from nearly 30 different breeds, with their handlers and owners hailing from Bermuda, Canada, and the United States. This year, the international judges come from Canada, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
These International All-Breed Championship Dog Conformation Shows, commonly referred to as Breed Shows, are where each purebred dog is judged against an ideal specimen of their breed, as described in its Breed Standard; this same practice is used in events such as the Westminster Dog Show, Crufts, and the AKC/Eukanuba Championships.

A spokesperson for the upcoming event said, “We are also very proud to announce that these Breed Shows will be qualifiers for Crufts 2014. This is the third time that the Bermuda Dog Shows have been nominated as such. The qualifying dogs, from each of the four shows, will be the winners of the following classes: All Group Winners, Best Puppy in Show, and Best Veteran in Show.”
