Convening Of Parliament To Be Held On Friday

[Updated] The Convening of the Legislature will take place this Friday [Nov 8] on the Cabinet Office grounds.

Premier Craig Cannonnier and Members of Parliament will gather to hear the Governor George Fergusson, deliver the Speech from the Throne, which outlines the Government’s legislative agenda for the year ahead.

“Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event which gets underway at approximately 11.00am,” said a Government spokesperson.

Live coverage of the Convening of Parliament Ceremony will begin at 10.30am on CITV [CableVision Ch. 2 and WOW Ch. 102].

Update 4.49pm: Police have issued a traffic advisory in relation to the Convening of Parliament.

A police spokesperson said, “The motoring public is advised of the following temporary road closures and no parking areas to facilitate the Convening of Parliament on Friday, November 8th 2013.

Road Closures from 10:15am until the event has concluded [approximately 12:30pm]:

  • Front Street – between Parliament Street and King Street [access will be allowed to Number 8 car park and Hamilton docks only].
  • Court Street – between Front Street and Reid Street.

Parking Restrictions from 6am until 12:30pm:

  • Front Street – between Parliament Street and Number 8 car park exit gate [opposite Supermart Limited].
  • Court Street – between Front Street and Reid Street.
  • Parliament Street – between Front Street and Reid Street.
