The family-friendly event is open to all and will take place at the Cabinet Office grounds on Saturday, December 7, starting at 3pm and ending at 6pm– just prior to the start of the Christmas boat parade.

The food drive benefit concert will feature Christmas carols and will showcase choirs from local schools, including: Bermuda Institute, Clearwater Middle School, Dellwood Middle School, Lagoon Park Preschool, Mount Saint Agnes, Northlands Primary, Prospect Primary, Saltus and Victor Scott Primary.

There is no monetary admission fee; however, those attending are required to bring at least three non-perishable food items to donate to the food drive. All non-perishable food items collected from the event will be donated to The Coalition for the Protection of Children and Teen Services.

Premier Cannonier stated, “The holidays are a special time of year and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate with the Bermuda community at the Christmas concert. The event provides an opportunity to celebrate our youth and an opportunity to donate to the “Open Hands Loving Hearts” food drive to ensure the Coalition for the Protection of Children and Teen Services are prepared for the holiday season.”

Bermuda CableVision launched its “Open Hands Loving Hearts” food drive in April 2013. Since then, dozens of schools and several businesses and churches across Bermuda have participated by collecting food items and placing them in CableVision’s “big blue barrels”at various locations around the island. CableVision distributes the food to charitable organisations in Bermuda who are in need.

CableVision’s General Manager Terry Roberson [pictured] explains, “We are humbled by the generosity and support from the community for the “Open Hands Loving Hearts” food drive and we are looking forward to the Christmas event.

“We wish to thank the Premier for his support, which shows a kind government who understands the needs of our people. We hope the concert will be an inspiring and heartening evening giving the community of Bermuda an opportunity to support a worthy cause.”
