Man Denies Betting $18,100 Of Brothers Money
In Magistrates Court this morning [Nov 28] a 26-year-old man denied a slew of charges alleging he used $18,000 of his own brother’s money to place bets.
Before Magistrate Juan Wolffe, David Robinson agreed that the Magistrate need not read out all thirty-seven charges that he was facing; but that the Magistrate could just read the first four and take the other thirty-three as having been read to him.
Robinson then pleaded not guilty to all thirty-seven counts of deception. The charges — all similar in nature but with differing amounts — were that between January and March 2013 he used a bankcard to obtain services from the Sea Horse Betting Shop.
In each transaction, the bankcard allegedly belonged to David’s Robinson’s brother. Over the three months, the total amount was alleged to be $18,100.
Robinson indicated to the Magistrate and that he hoped to be represented at his next Court appearance. He was remanded into custody until 12th December 2013 when he must re-appear for mention.

Did they not check the identification of the individual that presented the bank card?
Probably not smh that’s how he allegedly got away with it
I lived abroad for several years and while there, was ALWAYS asked for ID when presenting a cheque or a credit card.
When I returned to Bermuda, I found that almost NO-ONE asked for ID except the banks.
Recently, however, more vendors are asking, but not all.
It’s just a culture we’ve developed over the years – just take the money!

Just to think that most people think gambling is the answer to our economic downturn. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
If and when we choose to legalise gambling this will become a familiar story. Choose wisely Bermuda…

I hope that David is getting the help he needs at Westgate. He seems to be smart young man but out of whack.
