“A single vehicle motorcycle collision”. My my, we are getting better by the day. Now we are colliding with ourselves.

    • Jo Co says:

At the risk of sounding entirely too technical, it is possible to collide with a stationary object, such as the wall or ground. And as such emergency response organizations around the world have begun to use collision instead of words like accident.

      • Triangle Drifter says:

Perhaps you did not see another recent post. Ever heard of an aircraft colliding with the ground? There are collisions involving two moving objects but they do not collide with anything stationary.

Maybe I spend too much time in N America where it is more likely described as a crash or accident. Maybe collide is a British thing here.

        • Noah Webster says:

          col·lide
          intransitive verb \kə-ˈlīd\

: to hit something or each other with strong force : to crash together or to crash into something

: to come together with solid or direct impact
