Child Dies On Norwegian Breakaway Cruise Ship

Norwegian Breakawayl, Dockyard Bermuda May 15 2013-17One of two small children who were found unresponsive on the pool deck on board the Norwegian Breakaway has died, the cruise line said.

In a statement posted on social media yesterday [Feb 3], NCL said, “We are extremely saddened to report that a tragedy occurred on board Norwegian Breakaway this morning.

“Our emergency medical team was called and notified that two small children were unresponsive on the pool deck.

“The team responded immediately and quickly administered CPR to both children. The older child was then airlifted by the U.S. Coast Guard to the closest medical facility, accompanied by his grandmother and a nurse from the ship. Devastatingly, the younger child passed away on board.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family during this extremely difficult time and are providing full assistance and support.

“The family is in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well.”

According to various international media reports [1] [2], Coast Guard Petty Officer Adam SanSoucie said the child was died was only 4 years old, and was pulled unresponsive from a swimming pool.

The 1063-foot long Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship began visiting Bermuda last year, becoming the largest cruise ship to ever visit the island.

    People never cease to amaze me. A report appears on Bernews that a child has died on a cruise ship they start attaching condolences to the article. I guess you think the family of this child will be reading Bernews. Yeah, right, ok. SMH
