Reminder: Boats & Moorings Expire On May 31
The Department of Marine and Ports said they wish to remind the public that boat and mooring licenses expire on May 31st, 2014 and renewals will commence on April 1st, 2014.
A spokesperson said, “New for this year, the Department will not be posting renewal notices. This is partly a cost saving measure, but also the result of owners being able to directly access their account information on-line.
“Payments can now be made through our website or by visiting the Department of Marine and Ports at East Broadway, 4 Crow Lane. Please note that payments cannot be made prior to Tuesday, April 1st, 2014.
“To see what will be owed the public can go to the Department’s website and create a login using their Marine and Ports account number. This number can be found at the top left of your registration documents from the previous year.
“A list of fees is also available on the Department’s website without logging in.
“All current licenses expire on May 31, 2014 and only boats that are out of the water are exempt from registration renewal. Under the law the registration of boats and moorings and placement of current decals on same is the responsibility of the owner.
“All mooring licenses must be renewed by May 31st to avoid late fees. Moorings licenses more than 3 months outstanding will be cancelled and the mooring will be removed. The re-instatement fee for a cancelled mooring starts at $325 per mooring.
“Please also note that all charter and rental boat licenses expire as of April 30th, 2014. Please contact the Marine Services Officers in advance at Tel: 295-6575 to book an inspection.”
