School Programme Thanks Business And Public
The Student Assistance Programme at CedarBridge Academy said they want to thank business and members of the public who donated funds to save the programme that is so desperately needed to assist students.
Mrs. Marilyn Jackson, co-ordinator for the Student Assistance Programme [SAP] said, “We received close to $30,000. The number of students receiving lunch has increased, and now students are getting lunch. I would like to thank the media for helping to get the word out. They have helped students.”
“People have come to CedarBridge Academy to help offer ongoing support. They have provided strategies for this, one example is a website support so that people can give donations. People in the community have volunteered their time to help with shopping to get food supplies for the SAP,” she said.
Mrs. Jackson is most often the person who has to purchase the supplies, but with help from the community, she is able to focus on other aspects of her role as Guidance Counsellor. “Other people have provided food items, and one staff member brings juices on a regular basis.” Mrs. Jackson explained that there are currently four students who get full support, every day.
Below is a list of business that have donated to SAP. One donor wished to remain anonymous:
- BELCO – $10,000
- BF&M – $5,000 [continues to provide assistance]
- Security Associates Ltd- $1,000
“CedarBridge Academy says thank you to the people who have supported the students,” Mrs. Jackson said.
