Dawayne received $3,000 towards his studies at Niagara College in Hospitality Operations Management. He is a 2012 graduate of the Bermuda College Hospitality Management Associate’s Degree.

Ultimately, he would like to become a corporate executive in Bermuda’s Hospitality Industry. The Scholarship committee of SKAL believes Dawayne has demonstrated a strong drive, determination and commitment to his career goals and looks forward to welcoming him back into the Hospitality Industry in Bermuda.

Emma Marie Sims will receive $2,000 and will be entering a Bachelor programme at Endicott College in October. Emma graduated from Bermuda College in May 2014, and is currently the Event Services Manager handling international corporate group sales, social groups, wedding sales and convention services at the Elbow Beach Hotel.

Although her original educational goal was an accounting degree, Emma’s passion and experience in the hospitality industry caused her to change her career path. She hopes one day to become a General Manager of a small boutique hotel.

Archer Hill President of the Bermuda Chapter commented, “Skal international Bermuda has granted scholarships in hospitality to deserving students for many years. The local Skal Chapter is pleased to grant Dawayne Fubler & Emma Simms with the hospitality scholarships for 2014 / 2015.

“Dawayne & Emma have been chosen from a number of quality applicants studying and working locally and abroad in the hospitality industry, which speaks volumes for our industry and its future. We wish them all the best and look forward to following their careers in the industry, wherever it may lead them. Congratulations To Dawayne and Emma.”

Skal Board member and educator Dr. Barbara O’Shaughnessy said, “It was gratifying that these scholarship recipients are Bermuda College graduates who are formalizing their career goals while obtaining valuable experience within the hospitality industry.”

    Hello Archer,
Thinking of you and your family, in addition to the lovely water color you gave to us just prior to our leaving Pink Beach Club, August 2013, before the sad final closing.
Cheryl and I remain interested in what is going on concerning the old-property, and is it under any kind of refurbishing, etc….
We would love to return to Tucker’s Town some day soon, knowing that change is a part of life.
In addition, we think of Bruno, Demetrio, Bill, Patrick Cannonier, and of course you.
    Hope to hear from you.
