September Is Library Card Sign-up Month

September 11, 2014

In preparing to celebrate the 175 years of Library service to our community, the Bermuda National Library [BNL] is once again promoting September as Library Card Sign-up Month to encourage Bermuda residents to rediscover all that BNL has to offer. This month BNL joins with the American Library Association in promoting the benefits of being a member.

Head Librarian, C. Joanne Brangman said, “The library has several new services to offer Bermuda’s residents. These include an expanded e-book collection, free music downloads, and two new online language learning tools, this includes tools to learn English for our expatriate residents for whom English is a Second Language. Coming soon will be online homework help and e-magazines.”

A spokesperson said, “Residents can continue turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement. At both BNL locations members have access to free WIFI, internet terminals, e-books, largest collection of Bermudian history books and periodicals, audio books, local and international newspapers and magazines and outreach services for seniors and homebound residents.”

“Our library provides residents of all ages with the tools they need to succeed. We provide resources that can be accessed in-house or online, all with a free library card.” said Ms. Brangman.

Join or renew your membership between September 1 and 30, 2014 to be eligible for a prize. New applicants should present current mail for address verification, along with identification. Call 295-3104; email library@gov.bm or visit bnl.bm.
