Videos: Chris Famous Interviews Rev. Tweed

December 18, 2014

[Opinion column written by Chris Famous] Roughly two years ago a plane landed at L.F. Wade Airport and off stepped some passengers. Walking up to the Customs and Immigration desk line was a man of Bermudian heritage.

He presented his documents and then collected his baggage. Little did he know not only had he picked up his own baggage, but he was soon to pick up the baggage of our entire island of Bermuda.

During the Biblical days there was person who went around eating wild honey and preaching to the masses. He went by the name of John the Baptist. During the last two years there has been a person going around preaching the gospel of ‘Social Equality, Jobs and Justice. He goes by the name of Rev. Nicholas Tweed.

There is much I can write about him from my perspective as a Bermudian. However my written words are best superseded by his own spoken word and visual continence.

I had the opportunity to capture Bermuda’s own ‘ John the Baptis’t on video for a few moments where he discusses a few key issues.

  1. Steve Davis says:

The separation of Politics and Religion is essential in any healthy and functioning modern democratic society. The dangers of using organised religion to push political ideology can be seen in many autocratic countries particularly those that harbour radical religious entities and governments. This is interesting because here in these interviews you have a seemingly religious leader who is preaching PLP propaganda from the pulpit. Famous confirms this in his unity in facilitating the propaganda, a role he has been playing for the PLP for several years.

Tweed and Famous represent the common attitude of PLP propagandists. They lack qualified opinion. Has either one of them a degree or a shred of credibility to start to talk about economics? No they do not, they are out of their realm of understanding they are not qualified or experienced in matters of Public Policy, Anthropology, Politics or Economics.

Beware these words as Tweed grows ever closer to seeking power:

“Almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so.”
    ― Robert A. Heinlein

    • Speak Truth says:

Excellent interview Mr. Famous. A great leader and speaker Rev.Tweed, , continue to speak for the people!

  2. Sandgrownan says:

    Meh…dumb and dumber.

  3. BTCHECKER says:

Betty is now doing full interviews. good on you Betty.

Though as you have been busy we havent seen you on the forums and your catch phrase when you say something controverisial

    “Love ya”

sometimes you use it when you are Chris too which is why we all know but there you go.

anyway I agree with everythin here. Yes the insurance companies giving 10% off is just wrong – there must be an ulterior motive – they are evil and want money for people so really that 10% deduction us more likely a 20% increase. really

    really?

    really.

Yeah an basically really – we need the PLP back in power to stop the insruacen companies given union memebrs 10 % off. also they can cancel the hotel builds, americas cup etc. we need to cancel all these things and get the party with Bermuda’s interest back in power. really.

    PLP all the way……

  4. Unbelievable says:

    Can this be anymore biased?

  5. redbeard says:

we should take heed of the words of the BELCO lineman and the expat preacher…………………….not

  6. Bermuda123 says:

I agree with. Steve Davis. church and State should not be linked.

    • mj says:

church is validated through state , so they are intrinsically linked. however the church is using the “bible” from the pulpit and Rev. Tweed fails to make the correlation between what the Bible script says regarding the times we are in and why some of us are suffering.. Our suffering comes from our disobedience..The problem regarding religion and churches is the false teachings of the pastors as quoted in the bible(Jeremiah 10:21)also leading the congregation astray not speaking precept upon precept, explaining word for word so that people overstand what the true message from the Bible is for them especially in these days… We cannot afford to be luke warm anymore, no one can serve two masters and God is specific about obeying only His voice (Jeremiah 11:3-17)..Reverends need to decide whether they are going to break the yolk of bondage from preaching about what they want; or what is written and pertains to TODAY, the times we are presently experiencing and how with knowledge we can overstand our predicament…

  7. Beav says:

These two should hook up with Pat Robertson in the U.S. And leave Bermuda.

  8. Kangoocar says:

I stopped reading this nonsense after I read the first sentence!! Famous instead of calling this tweed guy a foreigner, refers to him as a person with ” Bermudian Heritage??” Funny how, when it suits the plp zealots, they can be affectionate to foreigners??? Get a life famous!!!!!

    • Kunta says:

Was Dr. E. F Gordon a forefinger , and his legacy still lives on, all depends what your motive is when you go to another country that makes you a Hero to the People.

      • Come Correct says:

How can Tweed be a hero? He’s an instrument of the lord.

      • Creamy says:

So if you live here for a year, can you call yourself a “real Bermudian”?

      • Barracuda says:

Was Dr E.F. Gordon a forefinger ? I don’t know , but I’m glad you Pointed it out.

      • Jus' Wonderin' says:

A hero?! LMFAO…what has he ever done for me?! NOTHING…he’s a nobody

      • hmmm says:

        Worshipping false Idols Kunta?

  9. Cafe Au Lait says:

Very interesting interview (the first one) didn’t waste anymore time after that. I would recommend if people are having trouble financially, to stop giving 10% of their pay to the church. After all, they are just selling imaginary tickets to an imaginary place.

And they think insurance companies are con artists!!!

  10. Cow Polly says:

John the Baptist was the opening act for Jesus Christ so who is this Tweed fella the opening act for? The second coming of Brown????????

  11. aceboy says:

I don’t understand who this Tweed character thinks he is? I guess because he has “Reverend” in front of his name that means something to some….but not to me. All I have seen is that this guy gets off a plane in Bermuda, aligns himself with a political party and starts organizing marches and a “People’s Campaign” which is clearly an “arm” of that political party. All while on a work permit. It’s just bizzare.

    • Bill says:

Ignorance is a bliss! Tweed is the son of The man! Yes the man who with a few others irritated your grandma and grandpa when they organized the theater boycott, breaking the old segregation way of how Bermuda was run. Now if you claim not to know about this I can only think you are one of two things: a product of Bermuda’s education system private/public as they don’t and haven’t taught the truth regarding Bermuda’s history or two my original statement of ignorance is a bliss…….. Either way wake up and engage in what’s right for all of Bermuda! Vote OBA out

  12. Cafe Au Lait says:

So often people seek the advice of a person with the word ‘Reverend’ in front of their name. Unfortunately this is of little value in the real world unless the Reverend is a real expert in the field being discussed.

Just because someone has ‘Reverend’ in front of their name unfortunately does not automatically make them an expert on all matters. For people to think otherwise is unwise to say the least.

At the end of the day, all a reverend can ever really tell you is to pray, and give the church 10% of your pay.

If the good Reverend was an economics major, or perhaps studied political science prior to finding the faith, then I apologize for my assessment.

If not then all he is doing is selling tickets for God, collecting the money, and throwing it in the air so that God can keep what he wants. The rest falls back to earth and goes into the church’s bank account.
