Photos: House Sustains Major Damage In Fire

[Updated] At approximately 1:05am this morning [Jan 19], the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a two-storey structure involved in fire near Ramgoat Hill, Smiths.

The dwelling sustained serious structural damage inclusive of a partial collapse of roof and floors, and one person who suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital for assessment.

Fire Service spokesperson Sergeant Russann Francis said, “The Fire Service responded to the incident with 4 fire vehicles staffed with 11 firefighters to find the structure fully involved with fire.”

Principal Officer on duty, Divisional Officer Troy Furbert, said “Upon the arrival of the Fire Service, there was smoke and flames seen from both floors.

“Four firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus and equipped with two 1½” hose lines began to extinguish the fire. Firefighters confirmed that all persons were out of the building prior to entering the premises to extinguish the flames.”

Update 12.28pm: As of this writing, the BFRS remain on scene and small flames are visible, with it appearing the fire flared back up.

      If this is the house I believe it is, it has been abandoned for some time now. Unless squatters started a fire to keep warm.
